Question about Whirlpool Ultimate Care II LSQ9564J Top Load Washer

1 Answer

Problem My whirlpool ultra 2 will not agitate my clothes. It runs through the process, but the top part just sits there instead of moving my clothes around. What can I do? Is it a big process? Can I do it myself or should I call a repair man or buy a new washer?

First unplug the washer and turn off the water. If you have a shop vac take the drain hose out of the drain, and through the drain hose vacuum the water out of your washer. If you don't have a shop vac go to the auto parts store and buy a pair of radiator hose clamps. Then facing the washer locates the two screws. They will either be in the front or rear of the control panel or back them out far as you can. Once you have done that pull the control panel slightly forward, and tilt it back on the hinges. Now unplug the lid switch wire but don't forget to plug it back when you’re done. Next locate at the rear of the washer body the two gold clips then push forward, and take careful note of how they fit. Then pop them out with a screw driver tilt the washer body forward at 45 degree angel and walk forward with the body, and set it down. Now you will see the white pump and motor assembly. You should see two clips holding the pump to the motor pop them off, and pull the pump off the motor shaft. Now if you fell the need to remove the pump use the radiator hose clamp. Take them and clamp the hose coming from the tub but it’s not necessary for the repair. Next disconnect the wiring harness from the motor (note the position of the harness for reassembly). Remove the two 5/16 inch screws from the motor clamps and pop the clamps off. Once that is complete, remove the motor put the new coupling on the motor and transmission shaft. Hoover 2300L 6.okg boss. Squeaking when agitating back& forth, not when spinning. Is this a bearing problem? & is it replacable. If so, from where in south australia? Or wherever.?

Washing machines don't usually run silently, but in most cases, a squeaking noise that occurs while the washer is agitating the clothing is not normal and signifies a problem. If the noise only happens when the washing is agitating, the problem is likely connected to the motor or your water pressure. Depending on the specific cause, you may feel comfortable fixing it yourself. Otherwise, call a professional.

Other People Are Reading

The Agitator
  • Agitators are located in the center of the drum, or basket, of top-load washing machines. Front loading washing machines do not use agitators -- instead, gravity moves the clothes from the top of the drum to the bottom. Agitators usually consist of a tall cone fitted with arms at the base. The purpose of the agitator is to rotate the clothes and soapy water around the tub to clean the clothes. The agitator itself is not usually the cause of the squeaking noise. It is powered by the drive mechanism, which consists of a motor, clutch and gears.
Motor Problems
  • A repetitive squeaking noise during the agitation cycle may signify a problem with the motor. Specifically, the belt on the motor may be wearing out. Some motors use rubber couplers, which also wear out easily. The belt is necessary for the agitator to turn, but over time, it wears thin, just like the belts in your car's motor. An easy way to test for this problem -- if you're handy -- is to take the belt off the motor and then run it. If the squeaking noise stops, the problem is indeed your belt. Of course, this means your agitator won't move. Replacing the belt should fix the problem.
Water Pressure Issues
  • The tub, or drum, fills with water right before the agitator turns on, and water continues to circulate throughout the washing process. As the tub fills and water circulates, you may hear a squeaking or squealing noise if you have high water pressure. This sound is caused by the force of the water moving through the pipes. To adjust this, turn the knobs on the hot and cold valves on the pipes that go into your washing machine.
Considerations
  • New washing machines may squeak at first as the parts "warm up," according to the GE Appliances website. The noise should disappear after five complete washing cycles have run on the machine. Unbalanced loads, overly heavy loads and loose items in the drum may also cause noise when the agitator comes on, but these things usually do not produce a squeaking sound.

What is the agitator

The agitator is the large part inside a top load washer tub that moves the clothes around while they wash and rinse.

How do i replace the agitator in my old heavy duty whirlpool washing machone?

Hello.

The Whirlpool Ultimate Care II washing machine is atop-loading clothes washer. The washer has several cycles to choose from, including cycles for washing normal clothes, permanent press items, delicateand items marked "Hand Wash." To do its job, thewashing machine relies on an agitator, located in the center of the wash tub.The agitator rotates during the wash cycle, moving the clothes around the washtub so that they are cleaned equally. If the agitator is broken, it will notsufficiently agitate the clothes and must be replaced. ·1 Unplug the washing machine from the wall outlet or turn off the power supplyin your service panel. · 2 Open thewashing machine lid and remove any clothes remaining inside. · 3 Remove thefabric softener cup by squeezing the bottom lip of the cup and lifting itstraight off. · 4 Pry theagitator cap off of the top of the agitator with a flat-head screwdriver. · 5 Remove thebolt at the bottom of the agitator, using the socket wrench with extension, andthen remove the agitator from the washing machine. Tip the agitator to removethe bolt and washer. · 6 Install thenew agitator onto the drive shaft. · 7 Secure thenew agitator with the bolt that you originally removed. · 8 Press theagitator cap and fabric softener cup back into position on top of the newagitator. · 9 Restore powerto the washing machine to complete the repair.
Thanks.

Hi jim_zervas,

Firstly, unplug the machine. Then first thing to do is remove the clothing, and bucket the water out. Then run the machine again.

Let me know what happens?

Kind Regards

Whirlpool washer does not agitate/wash but the spin cycle seems to work. I've found that the bottom section of the agitator blades are turning but the top section does not turn. I can also turn the top...

Hi,
The problem that your washing machine is not agitating, you will need to check certain things.
Please check the timer to see if it is in good working order or not. Next you will need to check the motor and the motor switch. On some of the newer washers the door switch also controls the motor.
If the motor starts running after the washer has filled to the selected level, but the agitator doesn’t move, you will need to check the following parts.

The agitator dogs. They are located inside of the agitator clothes mover. You will need to remove them and check to see if they are in need of been replace.
The clothes mover. This part is the top part of the dual action agitator. Its job is to move the clothes from the top of the spin drum to the bottom part of the agitator.
You will also have to check the inside of the clothes mover to make sure that the gear like cuts are not worn out.
However another problem could be a broken motor coupler.

Lint from washing machine

Fill the tub to the bottom of the agitator with hot water and add 1/2 to 1 gal of white vinager and let it sit for a few hours. Spin out the water and run thru a light load without clothes. When you are running a load lift the lid and observe the clothes movement, The items should be circulating from top to bottom. If they are just wiggling around it is overloaded and the clothes do not have room to move. This wears on the fabric creating lint. The agitator is for the water not the clothes contrary to popular belief. The clothes are actually washed with the water movement not beaten by the agitator.

The upper agitator on Whirlpool Model LA9100XTW1 is not rotating

To repair agitator remove the top of it < snaps on> then remove bolt from center and the agitator will split in middle. You'll find a center cogg with three arms remove this and replace with new one< the kit that you described is this part > and assemble it.The coggs are move freely to engage so you don't have to align them in any way.

Agitator gear is stripped

just place both feet on the agitator as it sits on the floor and lift up on the top half. there are plastic tabs on the bottom half that hold the two pieces together. you will need to remove the 2 tabs before putting the 2 pieces together. the bolt that you screw the agitator down with will hold the 2 pieces together.
