I have this monitor, LG Flatron w1942te, and once in a while-i will notice it 4-5 times in a 2 hour period, but who knows how much it is actually happening. Anyway, it will have a purple tint, and this tint will flash on and off for a while and then it stops.. very irritating. It happens when I play video games, browse the internet, even as I am typing this.. The monitor is almost brand new.
The purple flickering is usually caused by a loose LCD connector(inside the monitor) or a dry-solder joint. Since the monitor is new you may want to return it to the store and get a replacement as opening the monitor will void your warranty.
Sai.
It sounds like a co-incidence. Can you verify that the tint goes away everytime you open internet explorer. It has been a day of weird problems on Fixya!
Woah! Please let me know the make and model of your graphics card so that I can help you with this. Also let me know the operating system that you are currently using.
Note: If you do not know how to check the display adapter model then click start->Run--> Type in devmgmt.msc . When the device manager opens click the +sign next to display adapters.
Can you get me the driver version of your card so that I can see if there is an update.

This seems like the most likely solution. Thanks.
Thanks. I have to add, if I simply open up my internet explorer this tint just goes away. So it seems unlikely with that considered that something is loose in the monitor.
it has happened about six times now. Doubtful that it is purely coincidence
I'm using vista 32bit, with an ATI Radeon HD 3600+
The latest update was Yesterday which I installed, but as you asked I am running 10.4
