What you do, there is a slot above where you plug in your Ps2 controller. That's where you put the memory card, i highly recommend the 8MB memory card. if that doesn't work blow in the memory card slot and or reset the consle by tapping the power button.
i had the same problem with my 92 new yorker my over head consle didnt work so it was shorting out my guages if u remove the four screws in the overhead consle and carefully lower it down there is a little black plug with small wires about 4 or 5 if you unplug the little plug your guages should work but like i said my overhead consle didnt work and if yours does it wont hurt to try this option
Well the first thing is you should check that the AV cables are properly plugged into the TV and console and that the TV is set for the proper input. If that doesn't work try to hold the power button down for a few moments, that will reset the PS3's sound/video output to the default settings. That failing you can always try a new set of cables.
If these things fail it's possible your video card is bad, your tv's input may be not receiving a signal properly(e.g. not working) or some other flaw in the PS3 hardware.
