Computer noise I own a Sony desktop. The machine has been acting up for a while now. It would start up fine but sometimes while working it will start to make a noise sounds like a fan issue not quite sure but it would continue doing this then all of a sudden it will freeze up. Other times it will not even boot up. Any thoughts??? thanks

Get a can of compressed air and clean out the fans, cpu fan, power supply fan. Could be from dust buildup.

Hope this helps!

I have a sony e-book touch ,now when I attach the USB to the computer & e-book ,the computer says USB not working . All computer ports work. Do I have get a new USB cable or just reinstall the book...

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools ,computer management ,device manager look through all of your devices if you see a yellow question mark?or exclamation mark ! or red x
right click to reinstall drivers or
if you can see your usb but its not working
ports(com&lpt)right click update driver
just replace the cable of the hard disk, when you plugged the external disk drive you got that windows could recognize the USB device change the cable everything should work fine again, sometimes the wires inside the cable will be damaged due to bending or stretching or placing heavy equipment upon the cable,
check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red-white-green-black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems hope this helps

When I put a cd or dvd into my disk drive I hear a strange buzzing noise coming from the drive as soon as the cd or dvd starts to play.Sometimes the buzzing comes and goes but will last at least thirty ...

The buzzing might be just a little bit of friction between the motor and its housing rubbing together, or it could be off-balanced and vibrating against the drive cage. It's more than likely nothing as long as the disk still reads, and as long as it does still read, there's no need to send it in for repairs, it's just a minor annoyance. However, if the disk does not read, and I made an inaccurate guess as to the problem, then I would send it into the manufacturer for repairs.

Hello friends , i have a sony vaio PCG-8M4P i installed windows xp old version and it was working fine ... then i decided to upgrade to service pack 3 ... it installed servie packed 3 everything was...

It really sounds like SP3 installing was coincidental. You're not getting to the point that Windows even starts,so it becomes a hardware issue.
Sometimes laptop batteries are hidden under panels and boards you remove to get at things below.
Since you've already taken the machine apart, try it again looking under everything you remove.Remember that laptops don't necessarily use the standard size desktop battery, they're usually smaller.
Make sure Everything is plugged back in when you put it back together.
Other than that, you could very well have a bad Ram stick, try using them one at a time in the bottom slot.
A CPU failure usually allows the POST screen.

I had a loud fan noise coming from inside my desktop box for a while. One day (& ever since,) when I went to turn the box on, absolutely nothing happened: no fans, no BIOS, no LEDs. I made no config...

This may work however i think by ignoring the sound of the Fan you might have destroyed the cpu and the motherboard. If you can try the processor in another machine you might just have to replace the motherboard only.
Good Luck

No sound output from my Computer

First click Start, then Run. Then type services.msc in the box that pops up and press enter. In the new box that pops up scroll down to Windows Audio and make sure that for status is says Started.

Also, has audio ever worked on this computer with these speakers or is one, or both, new?

I believe its my board....can you help please!!

Have you tried cleaning up your machine? try your sys tools, free up space, see if it needs to be defragmented, then try a freeware registry cleaner like Abexo. Sometimes so much garbage accumulates in the registry that the machine freezes and does other wierd things.
