Question about HP PSC 500 All-In-One Printer

Somebody help me....PLEASE!\r\n

Somebody help me....PLEASE!
I've had a problem now for 3 months. My HP PSC 500 printer will not print SOME documents. In any color. It is in Word when this happens. It will print anything else, e-mails, photos, etc. But some, and only some, documents it refuses to print. Sometimes it would do it and I would print it in another color, blue or whatever, and it would work. But tonight, on an important document I need to get out, it won't print a damn thing. So if there is some wizzard out there please let me know. I've uninstalled and installed till I'm nuts so I don't think that works. Any other ideas?

Printer accepts paper but will print blank SOMETIMES. It will print color but not black. It will print black perfectly using email or anything else so I don't think the heads are the problem (ink cartridge is fairly new too and full). So, synopsis is: printer will print black on anything EXCEPT Word or WordPad, new full cartridge, will print sometimes (usually on older documents except sometimes will print on new documents). I'm not at home and will try your solution when I get there but it has me completely stumped.

By the way, I know I changed some of the dynamics in my problem but I've been doing some additional research and this and what I just sent you is how it's working now.

So far nothing has worked and now there is a new wrinkle. Today I wrote a document and printed it. The first two pages are blank, the second two pages are printed fine, the last page is blank.

I went to change the color of the ink and printed it all in brown and it all came out fine. I manually went and clicked on black and again the first two pages blank, second two fine and last one blank.

NOBODY has ever heard of anything like this and I'm sure stumped. It must be in the Word program. Emails and anything else prints fine and it is a new, relatively, black cartridge so I don't think the problem is there. When it does print it is fine with no smears or anything so, personally, I'm convinced it is in the software provided by Word. But I don't have a clue as to how to fix it and this has been going on through multiple uninstalls and installs of the printer and Word. Any ideas?

You'll win a cigar and my thanks if you can figure this one out.

Hello,
Does your printer loads paper from the paper tray and prints blank or there is no paper loading?
Or it tries to print but bad printing (almost blank) ?
I need to know that.
If the printer loads paper from the paper tray and prints blank or if there is no paper loading?
- First of all you can try to check from your printer setup menu while printing whether you select correct paper type and correct paper size. When you begin printing you must select paper size from the properties menu. Check the settings before writing. Because you say that you can print photos but can not print word documents sometimes. This may be reverse. This problem seems to be related to your setting selections just before printing.

- If it prints but almost blank you must do print head cleaning procedures from the printer menu.

- You can also see the manual page 2-3 to use correct print settings.
Please click HERE to download your printer manual which I uploaded for you. In the opened web page find the file named "HP_PSC_500_BasicOperations_Guide.pdf" file and click on the Download link below it. Or you can view clicking the view link there.

Hope this helps.
If not I am waiting your comments to help you after your explanations.
Thanks. Good luck.

Would you try this with the word document which you couldn't print:

    - Open the file in MS Word

    - From Tools menu check the status of the "Track Changes option" (on the bottom of the page you can see "TRK" is enabled or disabled. ), if it is "ON" make it "OFF"

    - Then;

    Save as

    Document Type

Close and re-open that document, try to print.

    Waiting your comments.

    Hi Chuck again,

    Lets try these:

    1. Windows operating system and the compatibility of the printer drivers may be problem. If your operating system is 64 bit and if you did not install compatible drivers for your operating system this may cause such problems. Can you tell me your operating system, and version? (Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and 32-bit or 64-bit, Mac OS etc.) You can check from "My computer", right click "Properties" screen.

    2. Try to create a new document, write something in black on the first page and save this document as a word document. Test this document to print. First click "Print preview". If you see blank pages then you must correct it using print setup menu.

Also check that there isn't some object (such as a line) extending the document page to the right, making the page larger than the print area (or whatever the size should be). If the page is very wide it may print blank pages first.

    3. Many documents print to an inkjet using "all colors" plus black to make up black, however some (Exel and Word, Notepad etc) use "black only" for black. Be sure your black ink is full, and if you want to print in black, select from the print menu black as printing option.

    4. You may need to update your office software to get available fixes for that version you had. Did you install new updates for your office software?

    Waiting your comments.

    Best wishes

    And check this:

    - Go to My Computer

    - Right click and select "Properties".

    - Choose the Advanced panel.

    - Click the first Settings button in the Performance Section.

    - Choose the "Data Execution Prevention" panel.
    - Choose the first radio button, "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only" if it is not selected. (not the second one "Turn on DEP for all ...."

My primter - hp psc 1400 all in one has been

Check the print options and make sure that you have set the printer to start printing while the document is being spooled to the printer.

Most of these printers put the intelligence into the print driver which then spools raw raster data to the printer.

Are you trying to print a very complex page, i.e. pictures and boxes as well as graphics?

I have printer HP PSC 500 S/N SGH02E112T WORKED FOR 5 YRS - NOW WILL NOT PRINT EXCEL SPREAD SHEETS OR WORD DOCUMENTS - STILL PRINTS EMAIL AND INTERNET DOCUMENTS HAVE HAD OTHERS CHECK SETTINGS...

Friend,

There's apparently a problem bwtween your Office suite and the spooler. Usually uninstalling/reinstalling the Office suite will fix the problem. (please do a backup of all your Office documents before proceeding!)

When reinstalling, please make sure that any antivirus program is shut down or deactivated during install, in some cases for example Norton Antivirus will block files that need to be updated, causing problems. You SHOULD use some form of virus protection when using your computer, don't get me wrong! :)
