Printer Problems I have an hp, 2000xp computer, panasonic KX-P5400 printer and they talk/ parallel to usb cable -it prints a test page- I get one line of my document -then it starts printing page after page of fonts and other numerical codes. What can I do?

Hi have you installed the correct software that came with the printer?
Also how old is the printer and have you used this printer before on this computer or not

Introduction Download a printer driver package and then install the printer drivers on a Windows Vista computer. Downloading the printer driver package and installing the printer Step one: Download the printer driver package
  1. Go to http://www.hp.com .
  2. Click Software & Driver Downloads .
  3. In the for product text box, type your printer model and then press Enter .
  4. Under Product search results , click your printer model.
  5. Click Microsoft Windows Vista .
  6. Under Driver , click the name of the driver.
  7. Click Download only .
  8. Follow the instructions that display on the screen.
Step two: Extract the files
  1. Double-click the self-extracting .exe file downloaded in Step one.
  2. After the Welcome screen displays, click Next.
  3. On the End User License Agreement screen, select the I accept this agreement check box and then click Next . The drivers start installing.
  4. After the Completing the Device Driver Installation Wizard screen displays, click Finish .

Power off the printer. Unplug the printer's USB cable for 5 seconds replug turn on the printer. If that fails power off the PC and printer unplug the USB cable at the PC and printer replug and power back on the PC. After PC is fully booted turn the printer back on. If this keeps reoccurring please replace the USB cable and or try different USB ports.

There's quite a variety of USB switches out there. Just go to Goggle and type in USB Printer Switch and pick the one you think best suites your needs.

Don't forget to buy cables...

Two weeks ago my computer creashed, lost everything,a technican has reprogramed most stuff,my printer does'nt print from the computer, its all hooked up,the technican gave me a Epson stylus C20 Series...


I have no clue why he would give you an Epson disc. Anyway, you can download your driver from HP's Site.

1. Unplug USB cable to printer, then from Control Panel > Printers delete any printers there.
2. Reboot
3. Install new drivers from the site above.
4. Plug USB cable back in.

Our Canon Selphy DS810 is not printing any color on the photo paper. I cleaned it several weeks ago, we have a new ink cartridge in and nothing. It was printing a light yellow color several weeks ago...


There are all kinds of printers and printing problems. It’s important to note at the outset that for safety reasons you should unplug your printer if you plan on working inside the device for any reason. In addition to the electrical hazard, printers (especially laser printers) can also be very hot on the inside, so use caution.

There are a few general troubleshooting steps you should take first, regardless of your printing problem. These will help solve most everyday printing issues.

Reboot. You’ll be amazed at how many printing problems simply disappear after you restart your computer. Also, reboot your printer. Sometimes, for no good reason, a printer will become wedged (it just stops communicating with the computer). Turning your printer off for a few seconds, and then back on, will usually get you going again.

Read the printer’s lights. Doing this can provide you with very useful clues. Is the power light on? Is the paper feed light blinking? Don’t be afraid to press buttons on the printer: Turn it off and on, reset the paper feed, and take the printer offline and bring it online again.

Check your physical connections. Is the power cord loose? Does the cable from the printer to the PC have a secure connection at both ends? Look at the connector pins on your cable. Are they bent? Try another cable if you have one. Check the print cartridges and printing mechanism. Is anything blocking the printer? Are the cartridges firmly in place?

Print a Windows test page. Access your printer’s Properties dialog box (follow the directions given above). Select the General tab and click the Print Test Page button. If nothing else, you can find out a good deal about your printer’s problem. If the test page prints, you have a problem with your application, not with Windows. Answer the questions as prompted and work through Windows’ Print Troubleshooter as needed.

Drivers. Verify drivers on the Details tab in the Printer Properties dialog box. Make sure the installed driver corresponds with your actual printer. Check the manufacturer’s Web site for updated drivers and browse the support pages on the site while you’re there.

My HP Deskjet F4140 was working fine until I got a piece of paper stuck. I removed and now it wont print. States printer off line and can not print a test page. IT will copy however.


Turn it off. Unplug the power cord from the printer & usb wait a minute. Plug USB in & than the power cable & turn it on. Next
Open the Printers folder.
Right-click the icon of the printer in use, and then click Open .
Click Printer on the menu, and then ensure that there are no checkmarks next to Pause Printing or Use Printer Offline . If a checkmark is present on either, click the menu option to remove it. If the menu shows Use Printer Online , click that option.

First off you need to connect the printer to your computer. Make sure the fax is plugged into the phone line. Then install the correct drivers for your printer.

Attention Windows Vista Users
If you have installed your printer on your PC using an original Lexmark Driver CD that came with your product and you are experiencing problems when printing, you may have installed the Windows XP driver.

Follow these steps to resolve:
· Disconnect your USB cable from your printer.
· Uninstall all Lexmark printer drivers on your PC.
· Download the correct Vista driver for your model.
· Install the driver on your PC.

Important - Do not reconnect the USB cable until the install software prompts the question of how the printer is connected.
