Question about Biostar P4M80-M4 Motherboard

Computer will not boot with 2 gigs of ram.

I am wanting to up grade from 512 Mb (2* 256) to 2Gb of ram.
When I started the computer up the fans turned and the lights came on but i got no video or POST code.

When I tried booting again it I got the all is well beep, but it hung on the bios screen.

Then I tried just one gig and it booted just fine, I tried the same thing with the other, and it worked fine as well.

The memory I am using Is a pair of 1gb Samsung, pc 3200, 184pin.

Only has 2 slots. And I'm attempting to put a 1gig stick in each.
Reread the manual and it says it can handle it.

How many memory(DIMM) slots do you have and specify the memory modules you have placed in those slots.. Let me know this so that i can help you out.. Sounds like a frequency mismatch..

With regards to iqbal_del , eagle338 this may sound odd and out but, maybe the mobo doesnt support 2 Gb of RAM. it works fine with 1Gb right? but it stops when the other mem is inserted. follow up! Vizth have you tried each mem 1 at a time on each slot ? there may be a possibility that 1 or those rams is not functioning on either slot.

Yaa viz eagle is right, its really seems like frequency mismatch. The both RAM must of same size, same type, and same frequency.

Thanks
Iqbal

Try just using 512Mb of memory or less as there was a bug in Me and 9x that produced that error if you had more than 512 Mb of ram.

Simple test - leave only the 512 stick and go into the BIOS and see if the memory is correctly recognized. If it isn't then it's defective. If it is then download, burn and boot from
http://www.pclinuxos.com/
and run the memtest to be sure. If the memory is ok then you will have to reinstall Windows - it doesn't like the new memory.

Problems with 3 brand new PC 133 512 MB RAM in Netvista 6794

That last RAM probably is good. Many motherboards have problems using many different memory. All of the memory you have should be at least identical to ensure that they work. When RAM run at different speed or require a little more voltage, they will not let your motherboard boot. You can try mixing up the order you put the RAM in. Try putting the last RAM in the first slot by itself, the motherboard should boot. Then try the rest.

Also, whenever you add or change hardwares, you should clear the CMOS/BIOS settings.

Hey,

Ram can not be increased as it is a hardware component in the computer, you can install more ram or upgrade the current ram modules that are inside the computer.

Want to add memory to Gateway 700x

Upgrading RAM on your Gateway 700X (DDR) Computer is easy, Gateway 700X (DDR) Computer takes the PC3200 DDR SDRAM DIMMs. Supports Dual Channel DDR. RAM Type, and comes installed with 512 MB (removable) of RAM.
You can upgrade your Gateway 700X (DDR) Computer to up to a maximum of 2.0 GB RAM, the Computer has 4 sockets to install RAM, already with 512 MB (removable) standard RAM installed. For best Computer performance use the maximum amount of allowed RAM per slot for your system.

I want to upgrade my HP BA 600 Mother Board`s RAM Capacity

Hello,
Most likely your MB is too old for this upgrade although there is a chance you could flash your bios (reprogram your computer's brain to accept the new memory providing hp has a flash for it).
here is a link for the latest bios flash for your computer, use at your own risk.

good luck.
