I microwaved a covered bowl not knowing a metal spoon was in it! Nothing works but the timer counts down and the inside light is on. Can or is it worth fixing?
More than likely it ruined the magnatron. Most likely over a hundred dollars to repair.
Really depends on the age and if you want that specific one in your house. Like if it fits a space or matches your decore.
There is not much to wear out on a microwave.
Depends on if you want to invest in something you already have or update.

If by "manual timer" you are referring to a knob that you turn to set the cook time, then you may have a failure of the motor that turns the timing mechanism, or a lack of power to it.
Place a bowl of water in the microwave (with a non-metal object such as a wooden spoon or stir stick in the water*) and heat for 3 - 5 minutes, depending how hard the crud is really stuck on. When microwave stops, keep the door closed to give the moisture and steam the heated bowl of water generated to have time to work. Remove bowl (careful, it's hot) and take a moist, warm cloth to the inside of the microwave. The crud bits should wipe off easily
If everything works on the unit, but you do not receive any heat or possibly the turntable does not turn you have a faulty magnetron (controls heat) and a faulty motor (controls turntable). You would require service on the unit, if parts are available. Some microwaves are so small in cubic foot size, that manufacturer's do not have parts available for purchase/repairs.
one of three of your micro switches that monitor your door is bad. easy to fix. remove control panel and u will see the switches that the roll cam for your door hits.
You need to trace the power feeding the high voltage transfomer.
Because the table doesn't turn, it implies that a door switch or safety
interlock is the problem.
Oops, it's a MW8117W 1000w Emerson Microwave.
Thank you so much for your quick reply! I think I'll consider it dead for that repair cost, cheaper to buy a new one.
Thanks again!
