My emachine T6216 starts up with fan on high speed but that's it; no screen nothing. I have reseated RAM and cleaned. I swapped out the power supply and it was the same. I added a video card and still nothing. Any other ideas?

I have an eMachines T6522 that does this when it is not completely shutdown. When it is restarted the fan comes on (very loud) and it never boots up. Uplug the power cord from the back of the machine and then plug it back in. Then start the computer. Works every time for my machine.

E-machines won't start
is there an orange light on the on/off button? if there is that means *********** board just went bad, check the capacitors. Capacitors are an inexpensive little component on a PC motherboard, but they can be a costly headache for manufacturers when a whole bunch of them go bad
you can not always detect them but check and see common in a few dell models but the high speed on the fan tells me that's what it is

Do you get anything for a post beep... or post error beep? If not, I'm afraid you have a dead motherboard.

Hard drive doesn,t power up. does this mean that it's bad?

Computer does not boot up The problem maybe the RAM, it could be faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact.
Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you. Just like you sometimes need a mechanic to repair your car, sometimes you do need a technician to diagnose and identify the fault or faults on your computer. Not only does a good service technican have the experience to deal with this type of problem, they also have the equipment that allows them to look at things the average computer user can't see, and he has a collection of replacement parts that can be used to quickly test individual components on your computer.

Sounds like a problem with the power supply based on what you've written. Could be motherboard too, but Power Supply is usually the culprit.

I'd swap it out to test ;)

When I turn it on, only the fans run. I cannot hear the hard drive run and the hard drive light on the bezel is solid yellow

look on bios to see if detects the hard drive ...if does not boot to windows...the hard disk has no reason to go on ....and the issues could be many ....check the Ram memory if do not appear anything on screen at all ...and just runs the coolers and clicks without boot at all...in this case its the Ram memory ...so check it ...get it out ..put it back ...and remove the bios battery to force it see them again .....if it is booting until the operating system should appear ...and after that nothing ...reinstall ...
Also .....if there is anything written on the screen ..read carefully ..usually it will say whats wrong ...and advise in same issues..like replace hdd ...or files missing ...or blue screen error from memory issues..

I have a Emachine desktop T6216 computer, that when i turn it on the fan comes on for about 5 seconds shuts off and power-up. Now when i turn it on the fan just runs and it doesn't power-up orupload

It is possible that the hard drive has crashed. If the power supply starts up but nothing else then it is either the mother board or the hard drive. If you take off the case and the CPU fan is spinning, then it is likely the hard drive. Your best bet is to take it into a shop if you are not comfortable with swapping out the hard drive.

Emachine T6216 will not start

Ok, there is Good news, and bad news. FIRST the bad news. You are not getting any power to the CPU. Fans and lights indicate motherboard power, BUT, power supplies ALSO provide power straight to the CPU, and if the CPU is not getting powered properly, it will not function, and the result is what you see.
Now, the GOOD news is, Power supplies are relatively inexpensive (about 30-50 bucks) and MOST pc shops will install the power supply FREE (if you bring your tower to them, and purchase the power supply from them in their store, but call before going). If you want to save about 10 bucks, order the power supply yourself and install it yourself, but if you are not comfortable doing that, have a pro do it.

No boot, New PS, Green light on MB lights, No Fans running

Bottom line: Either your power supply or (hopefully not) the mother board has gone bad.
Replace power supply (remove old one), take to local independent computer shop, ask them for new unit. Should be around $50.00. - no more. After reinstall, if still no fans, boot, etc. Replace motherboard or buy a new machine. MB's installed probably will run you around $250.00-ish.
Good luck.

E-Machine T6216 PSU fan runs, computer will not boot

It is the power supply. EMachines have a long history of using cheap power supplies. I have replaced over a dozen EMachine power supplies with a 100% success rate. They are easy to replace and can be had for less than $20. Just write down the model number and take that to a computer parts store or remove the power supply and take that with you. Steve

Sorry, it doesn't seem like it is a problem that can be solved here. Sounds like time to go to the repair shop.
