6 cylinder or 4 cylinder? If 6, it is at the front bottom of engine, if you have a rubbery splashguard there, it will have to be moved to see the filter. 4 cylinder I do not know. You have to lay on the ground to reach it.

I changed the oil in my 20002 jeep liberty, and i have no oil in the filter now, it doesnt knock or ping, is my oil pump out? How hard is it to change?

Thundergod has a good answer to your problem....also with filter off disconnect fuel pump relay, crank engine a few revolutions to see if oil comes out....these jeeps are horrible for clogging especially if you dont use 5w20 oil...if oil comes out with clogs it is clogged but oil pressure light should be on although you cant always rely on idiot lights or gauges.dont forget to use a drain pan.

Oil light comes on when idiling and turns off when accelerating oil is full

Its quite possible that it could be a dirty oil filter.I would try an oil and filter change and see if that helps you with your situation.

Oil light came on after oil change and new filter. garage said I should change the oil and another new filter. No good results. Oil light is still on, what now. Jeep liberty 2005

do not start vehicle ,drop the sump and clean it out with caustic ,also the oil pump pick up pipe ,then put the oil back in and start ,if ok then put half a litre of diesel into the oil and 3 good squirts of fairy liquid, then run engine for a week and change the oil again, use a cheap diesel /petrol oil from the supermarket ,not that fancy rip off synthetic long life ****.change oil every 6000 miles with a oil filter every third oil change

How to change oil filter on 2008 jeep liberty 4x4 ?

yeah they will say that and it may be your last choice but I know it is in the front of the engine and you need a long extension and ratchet handle and a claw type filter wrench to get it. Worth investing in if your going to do it all the time yourself. but prob not for one time.

When you open the hood look on the drivers side of the engine. There will be a pulley(Power Steering Pump) that your belt goes around, right under it on the back side is where your oil filter is located. It hangs down slightly angled towards the front of the vehicle. (This is of course the 3.7 liter V6)
