Question about Intel PENTIUM-4 865GV CHIP MOTHER BOARD (MBP4I65GV) Motherboard
Hello Cool, hi, the virus is coming from your USB flash drives, and or your back up files from your hard drives as I assume you have a Drive D: Here are the things you should do so that you will not get reinfected.
Im assuming you are using XP
1. Reformat/reinstall again your OS and as for your Hard Drive, set 2 partitions, for system this would be drive C: and for Data, this is for drive D: 2. After installing the OS caution: do not use any flash drive or open your other drives, set you folder options to Show all files and Folders.
start->my computer->tools->folder options->view on the hidden files and folder, select Show hidden files and folder and uncheck the two checkbox below, (this is hide extension and hide protected .... ) apply and or OK
3. Run GPEDIT.MSC from the RUN option
start->run then type GPEDIT.MSC then OK
4. Under Group Policies, goto administrative templates -> system -> turn off autoplay then enable select all drives -> OK ->exit
this will make the autorun.inf functions not to load automatically. This option makes the virus not to load automatically. caution again, at this point be cautious of what you will DOUBLE CLICK.
5. install an antivirus software, (any freeware will do, but i prefer the AVAST one)
your PC is now protected from reinfections.
you can now scan ALLl your flash drives.
You can also manually delete the virus files on your drives. they are usually folder looking files, usually 743/744 bytes. run SEARCH on all drives except C: with all .EXE files and under the what size is it? select medium. then click search.
on the search result, delete all the folder looking .exe files with 743 or 744 bytes (usually).
your done. BTW do this everytime you insert a flash drive.
