I wiped my computer and reloaded all of the original drivers, now I can not get the computer to connect to the internet. when I try to repair the connection, it says that it has failed to query tcp/ip settings. I tried to put them in manually and it still will not work. Any ideas here.

Are you running Windows XP? Have you loaded the Intel lan driver? Have you loaded the Intel chipset driver? What exactly is the error? Do you have any yellow or red tagged devices in the device manager?

I have had this same problem. It is such a pain. The easiest thing to do is call your internet service provider. They can walk you right through it step by step easily. There are alot of settings it could potentually be. Best in a situation like that to not get alot of advice online because the more settings you change the worse you could make the problem.

I need to wipe the hard drive of my Toshiba Satellite A85-S107 and reinstall Windows XP without the Windows install discs. I have tried holding down the "zero" button, per instructions on the net, bu

you might want to try restarting the computer and as soon as you see the Toshiba logo on the screen start pressing F1. if that doesn't work try again and this time press F8. look for an option that says something like restore this computer. im not sure this model has a recovery partition. if it doesn't you'll probably need to get your hands on a Windows XP disk. you could ask a friend with a dell computer they may have their disk. or you could try a flea market. but before you erase your computer you need to make sure you have your coa sticker on the compter still. it looks like the sample im providing. if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Reloaded windows xp and now i am unable to connect

Hi, First option is to locate the Drivers and Utility Disks that came with your computer and use it to re-install all drivers; especially the one that allows you to connect to the network / internet service. Second option is to go to a computer (maybe a cafe) that is connected to the Internet, go to the support page of your computer manufacturers website, download the essential drivers you need, save them to a USB / Flash disk and then go install on your own computer.

I had to reload my O/S thus wiping out everything on my laptop (presumably)... does everything include the modem? I am trying to boot up juno and it prompts me for modem.

juno is a dial-up internet connection, I assume? most likely, the driver for the modem got wipe out as well. reinstall your modem then try configuring your dial-up connection.

You can try uninstalling the drivers for it and install updated ones from HP's website. If it continues you might have to call their support number. If they tell you to send it in for repair make sure you backup your data, pictures, etc. In alot of cases no matter what the original problem they may wipe your drive without asking and return in in its factory new condition.

Good luck.

Can't reload XP

Depending on the age of your PC it may have Dell automatic recovery

During startup at the Dell Screen hold down the CTRL key and tap F11 twice

It may display the Dell Recovery from which you can set your computer back to factory settings

Please note all your files will be deleted

Unable to connect to internet

Hi.

What do you mean by "reloading Windows"? Did you repair it? Maybe did reinstallation? If so, you may need to install drivers for your Ethernet adapter. You will need to specify Ethernet adapter manufacturer and model (if it is onboard adapter, then motherboard manufacturer and model), so I can provide you with the download link, in case you don't have the drivers.

Computer wont load past the windows logo

Instead of doing a system repair, wipe the hard drive, reformat (NTFS), and reload the operating system. Then you will need to go to Dell's support site and download the drivers. You already know that you can't do installs from safe mode, only under normal operation, so, if the reload doesn't take, let me know the details as to why or what it's doing and I'll see if I can narrow the problem for you.
