Question about Toshiba Satellite A70-S249 Notebook
This is going to depend on what exactly you are thinking of as a socket. On the A70 the drive itself plugs into a socket mounted on the mainboard. The case bottom forms a cavity that the drive slides into. The drive itself is held inplace by a single screw.
To replace the mainboard is going to cost about $150 for a replacement board and then labor and shipping if you are not doing this yourself. It requires the laptop be pretty much totally disassembled. This is about a 1.5 hour job. You can do this yourself if you are comfortable doing this sort of thing. There are several pictorial and videos available that shows how to take these apart.
To replace the bottom is not a whole lot less work than the mainboard. You can find these for $25ish on ebay or laptop repair websites.
I have a A70 and as a word of advice keep the cooling system blown out and don't block the inlets. Ie always sit on a hard surface. They will get hot enough to melt the stickers off.

Tips for a great answer:
Oct 15, 2013 | TOSHIBA Satellite A70-S2561 Main battery...
Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions
the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) SATA make sure they have a secure connection
check your video card for secure dust free socket
and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty ?
one bad lead will end with a computer error
a computer needs power and data to travel through every working device and have an end to function properly
even something as small as a faulty fan lead can cause this problem computer needs all of the data and power to travel through every device and to have an end to be able work properly
hope this helps
