When this has happened to me, I found that the feeder was sticking. This is usually due to a lack of lubrication. Try placing some pneumatic oil onto the feeder area and then trigger the gun a number of times to work it in. (I usually fire the gun without nails for this.) Then load up the nails and try again. Make sure that you add oil to the air stream on a regular basis to keep this from happening again.

Nails skipping

Usually caused by debris in the small air passage from inside of gun to feeder piston. Easy to check. Remove the head and pull out the cylinder. Debris in the chamber is usually small pieces of oring or the lower bumper is coming apart. This debris will enter passage to feeder which is visible at bottom of chamber. If debris is found, clean chamber, passage, and feeder chamber. Debris will lodge on the oring between the body and nose. Clean and replace parts as needed. If the gun was found to be clean inside, suspect weak or missing feeder spring/s. Good luck/

Why does my hitachi roofing nailler skip nails every 5-7 shots, and there is a leak in the back but o-rings are fine and nothing seems to be broken?

Try using it differently. It's more of a bouncing method than a pushing method. Also use good quality nails. Fix the leak it will help it recoil better.Don' use excessive amounts of oil.

I changed the feeder springs in my hitachi NV83 a2 and it wants to double fire and jaming up the driver with seconded nail. it was skip nailing before i changed springs. any help you could give me would be...

Your nailer is a very heavy duty nailer with very powerful blow. Works best with full size nails, not 2 inch range that are used in fencing, they are not spaced correctly for your gun (like hitting number 6 nail with sledge hammer). Open side door and remove the nails, leave the door open and dry fire gun against piece of rubber or old coiled air hose. The driver should return all the way up between shots and the feeder should move back then forward just as fast as the driver moves. If the feeder seems to move in slower motion then pull feed piston and replace orings and remove debris from feed cylinder. If the driver seems to stick out further than normal then lower bumper could be breaking up causing debris to enter feeder. Make sure that the driver is not bent and has a squared bottom, if rounded, remove and grind square. Finally adjust the depth control up or down slightly and bump fire for test, do not place gun on the work then fire. good luck

It does not shoot the nail flush and skips every other nail

1. check your hose for leaks 2. check the spring in the nail slot 3. if those don't solve your problem then your bearings in the compression chamber are wearing out and you should consider getting a new nail gun

Gun fires, leaves good indentation, no nail. WCE working properly, took head apart to look for jam but nothing in there and am using compatible nails. Also oiled it but no luck. Was working fine doing...

Remove nails and use thin tool to push driver all the way up to top of cylinder. If the gun fires one nail then skips, the driver is not returning to top of cylinder. If no nails fire, then nails are not feeding into proper position. Driver must return to top to allow nails to feed into position. Most common problems are bent driver, worn piston oring and bad batch of nails(head too large). Good luck

The nails keep jamming; getting stuck half way out the nose of the gun. Happens every 2-3 shots. Very frustrating.

Hello Holly, either you are using the wrong nails, or the nailer's driver is worn, causing it to skip over the head of the nail. If this unit has a spring loaded "door" on the front of the nose, its possible the spring has lost its strength, allowing the nose to partially open during operation. Without knowing the brand and model of the nailer, I can only speak in generalities, but I would think the best solution is either the first two problems.

The dial on the top of the gun is most likely the depth adjustment for the nails, this should solve the driver damaging the work piece. Make sure the nails are the correct guage for the nailer you have.

Max 890s coil nailer does not advance nails when operated.

Make sure you have at least 100 psi available and I would pretty much drown the sliders and other moving parts in something like Marvel Mystery Oil.
