Go down to your local walmart and purchase a legit copy of windows for around $150 or live with a pirated one for free

Hello,

I understand. Microsoft has cracked down on tracking software that are installed in computers by requiring a validationg of your install operating software.

Since the XP operating system was installed on the computer when you purchased the system. Who ever sold you the computer must provide the CD key for your XP software. This CD key is five groups of numbers and letters you must enter to send to Microsoft to validtae your XP software.

Hope this information will give you what you need to validate your XP software.

Good Luck

Window XP when i turn on computer there is a message that you may be a victim of software counterfieting

Hello sanaejaz28
Probably your software is not genuine . You need to buy a valid key that is no more available at Microsoft's . You can purchase an install disc at one of these places and use the key to validate your XP OS : http://about.pricegrabber.com/search_attrib.php/page_id=186/form_keyword=windows+xp/rd=1/st=query

I got a problem in my pc...after installing windows xp.....the message is you may be a victim of sofware counterfeiting

this can mean you've installed a non-genuine copy of XP. if you are sure it is genuine, you need to register it to Micosoft either online or through their phone activation method. another thing to look into is your date and time settings. make sure the date and time/year and time zone are all correct. this is one thing that can often cause these type of issues.

May be a victim of software counterfieting.copy of windows did not pass genuine windows

It's a polite way microsoft is saying that your copy of windows did not pass the Windows Genuine Advantage(WGA) validation after updating your OS through the Windows Update.

Victim of software counterfeiting how to rectify it

Incase you are a victim of counterfeit product of Microsoft then :-
  1. Purchase a valid Windows XP cd-key online from Microsoft.
  2. If you can produce high-quality counterfeit media, along with a proof of purchase, you can get a free replacement key from Microsoft.
  3. Contact your reseller for redress.
  4. Purchase Windows XP from a local OEM reseller.
  5. Purchase Windows XP at a retail location.
Notice the word "Purchase" appears in three of those five options. There's almost no way to finagle a free cd-key out of this.
Counterfeit software can come from a number of sources. It's important to use a reputable reseller when purchasing software or PCs that come with software.
And, now the good part :-
Microsoft also offers several options to help victims of counterfeit software obtain a legal copy of Windows, including a complimentary offer for victims who were deceived into buying highy quality counterfeit copies
To help customers who unknowingly purchased a counterfeit version of Windows XP, Microsoft has created two genuine Windows offers for those who qualify:
  • Complimentary offer: Microsoft will make a complimentary copy of Windows XP available to customers who have been sold counterfeit Windows. Customers will be required to submit a proof of purchase, the counterfeit CD, and a counterfeit report with details of their purchase. Only high-quality counterfeit Windows will qualify for the complimentary offer.
  • Electronic License Key Offer: Microsoft will offer an alternative for customers who find out via the WGA validation process that they are not running genuine Windows, but do not qualify for, or choose not to take advantage of, the complimentary offer. These customers will be able to license a Windows Genuine Advantage Kit for Windows XP directly from Microsoft for a special on-line purchase price. The Windows Genuine Advantage Kit for Windows XP will include a new 25-character Product Key and a Windows Product Key Update tool that will allow customers to convert their counterfeit copy to genuine Windows XP electronically.

Interesting, I take it your copy is genuine! if so then I bet this is some type of new scareware AKA adware...

Try this to see if it is detected....

It could also be that your serial # for your windows was released to the public and Microsoft blocked the key, may need to make a call to Microsoft to verify this.

How to solve "you may be a victim of software counterfieting"

The Solution is simple, Just purchase the licensed version of windows, otherwise you will be committing the crime of SW piracy.

Temporarily you can get rid of the message, just uninstalling the Genuine verification patch from control panel.

Counterfeiting...

This happens when you install an update from microsoft for Windows, and particularly Windows XP. Some people install copies of the retail vesions of windows that came with another computer. And this may lead to another problem. Such as Windows genuine advantage validation checks to fail. This happens when you use a pirated copy of windows XP.

It is always suggested that using a genuine purchased and licensed copy of windows XP will ensure technial support from Microsoft and their partners. This will help you from the message that you have been encountered.

If you believe you are using an original purchased version of Windows, then I would suggest you to change the windows Product key. And this will help you stop this message.

The reason you get this meassage is that, the windows product key that you are using is illegal and blacklisted by microsoft. Changing the key to an original product key will solve this issue.

The Product key changer tool is available for download free from microsoft' website.
