VW Jetta 2000 retrieve radio code

I'm about to replace the battery in a 2000 Jetta but someone said I should retrieve my radio "SAFE" code before I kill the juice. How do I find what this code is for my factory installed radio?

I have a 2000 jetta gl. A light came on which looks like a car with a key under it.. it started then shut off... I have read that you can try just leaving the ignition on for 10 min,,did so and didn't work. I left the car sitting for a day, got in it to push move it and the light was no longer on..and it hasn't been back on since. I am afraid to drive it anywhere,,can you tell me why this happened..also..for the other question.... what do you do with the code from the radio once you have changed your battery...i haven't had this car for very long,,, got it in march..it's a great car,, just not reliable

YOU CAN PULL RADIO AND GET IT'S SERIAL NUMBER IF YOU DON'T KNOW IT MUST TAKE PROOF OF OWNERSHIP TO DEALER AND THEY CAN LOOK UP CODE. RADIO MUST BE PULLED IF YOU DON'T HAVE CODE. CHECK GLOVE BOX AND OWNERS MANUAL FOR A 4 OR 5 DIGIT NUMBER USALLY LOCATED ON WHAT LOOKS LIKE A CREDIT CARD

It will be printed in the manual that came with the car. You cannot fond out from the unit itself otherwise it would be a pointless security feature.

Factory radio with code and or safe mode

It seems like everyday someone is writing in with the problem of loosing the radio code or having changed a battery and now their radio comes up with "safe" or "code".

the registered owner of the vehicle needs to call the dealer and with the V.I.N. # ready for them (and in some cases, the radio serial number) to get the serial number of the radio it will have to be removed in some cases and in other it can be brought up on the screen of the radio. the dealer will know this and how to advise you to do so. request the code and procedure. Once you have this code and procedure, write the code and steps down in the owners handbook or other item that stays with the vehicle.

There is no master code that works for all radios. how it works is the dealer has a computer program that will generate the code from the serial # inputed into it. so each radio has it's own unique code.

I hope this helps everyone with this issue , for you will have saved the code and have it handy for that next battery change.

BATTERY WENT DEAD AND RADIO IS IN LOC MODE CAN YOU HELP ME CHEVY S10 PICKUP 2000

YOU SHOULD HAVE THE LOCK CODE ON A SMALL CARD THAT CAME WITH THE TRUCK POSSIBLY WITH OWNERS MANUAL OR IN YOUR GLOVEBOX. IF NOT YOU MUST REMOVE THE RADIO AND RETRIEVE THE NUMBERS ON THE BACK OF THE UNIT AND CALL A CHEVY DEALER TO GET THE CORRECT CODE TO UNLOCK THE FUNCTIONS.

sorry bud been in and out of this one and it looks liek youll have to get it thrrew the dealer. better option if i may make a sugestion. take the radio out of the car. leave it out for a few days the internal battery will probably klep the units memory active but this only means theirs a battery keeping nand memory refreshed. if you haoppned to shut the power off to the unti long enough the memory will probably reset to factory firmware.

tip the manual that came with the radio will almost defanmitly have a code in it for you.

otherwise you will ahve to call them and get the code reset. sorry.

Vw beta car radio, made by blaupunkt

To switch the system on, push the button left. When blue background light appears with the word "Safe" en ter your code. Example: code is 3527 push button nr1 3x, button2 5x, button3 2x and button4 7x. Confirm by pushing button 8 or 9. When the correct code is entered the system will go in operational mode. If the incorrect code is entered "Safe" will appear again. Good luck.

For your Jetta, you may need a different wiring harness.

You need to be able to trace the wiring from the two dins on the back of the Kenwood receiver, and une the wiring diagram for the 1996 Jetta.

Perform your cross reference here for the receiver wiring:

Here's the wiring for your Jetta:

From the jetta wiring, it looks like your Right Front speaker isn't connected.

Here's the wiring for your Delta 88:

Happy hunting!

hello chevi1981..what can happen is if whoever installed your system did not run your speaker wires properly eg if they have worn through and touching metal or a screw through the wires ,it can blow the audio ics in unit resulting in no sound.all these high powered units have above ground circuits in the audio stage .to check ,hook up a separate speaker direct to your unit, separate wiring ,if no sound, will most likely be the intergrated circuits..these will have to be changed by a tech as cd players are a beast to work on,also your 2 speaker wires should not touch one another.with your sec code if your have a removable face you may not have a code ,as removing face is your security .hope this helps
