I'm about to replace the battery in a 2000 Jetta but someone said I should retrieve my radio "SAFE" code before I kill the juice. How do I find what this code is for my factory installed radio?

It will be printed in the manual that came with the car. You cannot fond out from the unit itself otherwise it would be a pointless security feature.

YOU CAN PULL RADIO AND GET IT'S SERIAL NUMBER IF YOU DON'T KNOW IT MUST TAKE PROOF OF OWNERSHIP TO DEALER AND THEY CAN LOOK UP CODE. RADIO MUST BE PULLED IF YOU DON'T HAVE CODE. CHECK GLOVE BOX AND OWNERS MANUAL FOR A 4 OR 5 DIGIT NUMBER USALLY LOCATED ON WHAT LOOKS LIKE A CREDIT CARD
