The ribbed belt for the brush broke. When we got

The ribbed belt for the brush broke. When we got a replacement belt and put it on, we realized that the retainer clip was broken on the side above where the belt is installed. We cannot get enough tension to hold the brush on and have looked at the manual to see if we are missing any other parts, but do not see any. Could the broken retainer clip be the source of the problem? It is hard to tell from the pictures in the manual.

According to the schematics from Bissell on this machine, the "gear" ribbed belt goes between the pump and the brush roller. Tension is provided by the pump. The retainer clip is part of the pump assembly and Bissell only sells the entire pump, part # B-010-7185 PUMP, PROHEAT SERIES UPRIGHTS. We can special order the part at a cost of $34.95, www.govacuum.com We have live chat or you can call 888-468-2210 option # 2. You may also want to make sure the pump sits tight in the machine.

Brushes will not rotate

I can't tell for sure from the pictures, but there are two possibilities - the drive belt to the brushes broke, or the brush can't turn due to excessive hair wrapped around the shaft. If the belt is OK but the brush does not turn, you should smell burning rubber.

If the belt is broken, you have to remove the bottom plate to expose the brush, remove the brush and the broken belt, and replace the belt, and put it back to gether. While you have the brush out, now would be a good time to clean it - remove the hair, etc from the brush and around the shaft. Good Luck!

My hoover fusion carpet brush wont revolve

Hello, I hope your having a good day considering your problem.

It sounds like you have done everything and more you can at your end. My opinion based on your detailed description is that is possible you might need to barrings in your roller on both ends. Now sometimes you can take it to a local vac shop (just the roller of course) and they can put the new barrings in as well as maybe it is possible that something is just loose or warn out. Sometimes you are better (for cost of repair reasons) to buy a new roller. I would first personally, take the roller off, and take in to local shop and have them give you a price to replace or repair. That appears to me what has happened. Its also possible, some dirt and debre has got trapped in where there barrings are and it is sticky or just plan stuck. Mike

Hi, The belt of our Dirt devil bagless vaccum broke and we got new belt and replaced it. Even after replacing the belt, the brush is not rotating. Any suggestions please ?

Did you check to see that the beater brush, the brush that the belt drives, is free of debris and moves freely? When they bind up they can cause the belt to break. Remove the beater brush just as you do when changing the belt and clean as best you can. There are retainer clips at each end of the brush, add some WD40 between the clips and the beater brush and turn by hand to free it up. Reassemble making sure the belt is on in the proper manner so that the brush will turn in the correct direction. If you find this solution helpful, I would appreciate a Thumbs Up from you!
Thank you. Paul

I need help replacing my belt

Just changed mine. I have a Turbo Force 6585. Flip it over and press with your fingers on clip #s 2,3 and 4 (This releases the cover over the roller brush - The clip locations are labeled on the plastic cover). Remove the cover - this will expose the brush , belt and drive motor spindle. Pull the roller straight out (note one side of the roller has a "square peg" - its pretty obvious but you need to align it when replacing. Remove the belt and replace the new one over the silver motor spindle first and then the roller. You will see the area or Pulley (it is part of the roller brush itself) to put it on it is fairly obvious where it goes. Use the roller to stretch the belt and insert the roller back in and replace the cover.

Note; There have been several complaints about belts breaking prematurely on these models - I used a Homecare No. 1145 that is made to fit Panasonic Upright, Belt type UB / UB8 - This belt is about an 1/8 longer (much less tension) than the supplied one and it hasn't broken yet - Considering the factory supplied belt broke in 3 uses, I really don't care what Bissell recomends as this has been a common complaint with this mode on forums. Hope this helps

Brush won't spin. Put it back on the ribbed belt

Make sure the driving motor (power on) is turning (without the belt attached). Make sure the brush turns freely when the belt is off (it's probably jammed with wound-up hair, thread, and other debris--remove the brush and clean/lightly oil the bearings). Check the tension of the belt which should be fairly firm--replace if sloppy. Rotate the motor shaft by hand when everything is back together and make sure the brush can be driven without the belt trying to jump off. Hope this helps!

Anyone know why my Bissell Proheat 2X Turbo Model 9300's brushes won't turn anymore

If the Brushes don't rotate, & you have two brushes; 1). Turn unit on side. ( Make sure unit is up-pluged) 2). Rotate the front brush roller, if the second roller moves at same time, 3). Locate a small ribbed belt that goes from the further back roller, to a small ribbed pully. (Gates belt #177-3m5) ( on side under a clear cover) The belt may not be broken, but may have carpet fuzz / lint covering the belt ribs, causing the belt to slip. If that belt is OK and you find that the small pully doesn't turn the belt/rollers, the problem is with a small internal direct drive motor, that drives the brush rollers. At this point return the unit, as Bissell has a design defect & is using cheap parts.
