How should I take off the water valve to the refrigerator. I don't want to break the hose. Do I pry it off. There is no screw. It looks like it should just pop off but I really do not know. The hose leads right into the refrigerator.

when was the last time u change your water filter, if water is coming into the ice maker and it don,t make ice that means u have a defective ice maker, if no water comes into the ice maker check the water valve at the back of the refrigerator with an ohm meter for resistance if no resistance is present replace water valve,u should unplug water valve when checking

My kenmore side by side icemaker quit working after a power outage. Is there a reset button? The tray has ice but it won't cut or dispense the ice

If you are having a problem with your Kenmore refrigerator's automatic defrost feature, it can lead to issues with the appliance's performance. The Kenmore self-defrost system works similarly to that of other refrigerator brands and it has similar components that can potentially malfunction and cause the entire system to fail. While you can still manually defrost your Kenmore by opening the doors and unplugging the unit for several hours, it is inconvenient and messy to clean up. Your best bet it to find the issue and repair it.

I disconnected icemaker to put in new floor, i hooked it back up, now my icemaker wont make ice. its going thru the motions but water isnt coming in.

does this unit have a water filter on it. may want to check filter if so alot of times when you turn water off there will be some sediment /trash come through system and could get lodges in line, filter assembly.. change filter out... you may also have some debri at water valve remove water line from vale and then check connection for any sediment prior to reconnecing turn water on to line holding a glass to catch the water. reconnect adn wait 6- 8 hours to see if ice maker fills with water...you can jump ice maker out by removing front cover and advancing timer.

Replace icmaker on kenmore

Unplug refrigerator. Take a moment to examine how the icemaker is positioned in the freezer compartment prior to proceeding (e.g.: water inlet tubing coming into the icemaker, etc.). Remove or loosen (where applicalble) screws holding icemaker. Unplug icemaker's wire harness connection. install new icemaker by reversing the screws harness, etc. Make certain that the new icemaker is in the "on" position. Plug the refrigerator in. Allow approximately 6 to 8 hours (some models take fewer or longer timeframe) for ice production.

Ice maker won"t work

Give it at least 24 hours to get started. May need to turn freezer colder also.Make sure Arm on ice maker is not locked in up position. I don't know what jump means. If it has been in frig for a long period with out water but still going through the motions there could be other problems. But if it was just hooked up give it time to get going.

Ice on back wall but not freezing food and rattle noise. Moved all food to other freezer

This is a fairly common problem with these types of refrigerators. The design is set to defrost every 12 hours and be down for 1 hour to allow ice to melt on coils. More often than not the ice never fully melts and creates a blockage in the coils and in turn slows air flow. You can remove the screws in the back wall of freezer unit and unsnap the ice maker plug to allow access to the coil. Gently tilt the back plate forward. You can then unplug the ref. and help it thaw with a blow drier. If you are not comfortable removing the back plate then you can just unplug the ref. and let it thaw on its own. this may take a while. try to remove as much ice as you can from the back of the freezer wall by hand and prop the door open for a couple of hours to ensure that all the ice melts. The rattling sound you are hearing is the fan blades hitting the ice that is built up around it. As a precaution I recommend that these type of refrigerators get manual defrost simply by unplugging about once a month for about two (2) hours. I hope that this will help you out with the melted ice cream. Good luck.
