how do I get to the menu to switch views?

  • david_laughr Apr 28, 2010

how do I access the menu to flip the picture in my view finder

  • david_laughr Apr 28, 2010

No, I tried that very option and to view the image right side up, the view finder has to be fliped out facing what I am shooting. When I flip it back, the view finder is upside down when you are aiming at what you are shooting at.

Ok we have established that we are in mirror mode. Now how do we get the view of what I am recording back to the way it was?

  • david_laughr Apr 28, 2010

I rotated the screen back to the starting position and the picture in the view finder is still upside down even if I flip the whole camera over.

Hi,

There is no menu item that you can use on this camera to move out of 'mirror mode'.

Under normal operation the camera automatically selects 'mirror mode' when the LCD screen is 1) moved out to 90 degrees from the camera and 2) rotated through 180 degrees.

When the screen is returned to normal position the mirror image is cancelled automatically. Therefore - what you are experiencing is a hardware failure in the switches that actually tell the camera what position the screen is in. The camera will remain stuck in mirror mode because of this failure to detect correct screen position.

In this case the camera will require service attention as these components will need to be checked and replaced. There is no other way around it I am afraid.

If this information helps please leave a vote for it. Thanks.

You can rotate the LCD screen 180 degrees to correct this problem. Please refer to page 27 of the manual below.

The manual says that rotating it will disable the mirror mode as well. See page 37 of the manual I have given you and let me know.

Hi David!

Take a look at this:
my handy cam shows the picture that I am recording - 99794ce.jpg

  • If I get you right, all you need to do is to rotate the LCD panel in 180 degrees.
  • FYI: While recording in "Mirror Mode", a mirror-image of the subject appears on the LCD screen, but the image will be normal when recorded!
Also, if PHOTOS are saved upside down, use any imaging software to flip them back (even Windows' embedded viewer can do it).

Best regards,
Pelu.

EXACTLY! You're right... and it means you're shooting in MIRROR MODE (in which the LCD faces YOU)!
And as I've mentioned, while recording in "Mirror Mode", a mirror-image of the
subject appears on the LCD screen, but the image will be normal when
    recorded!

This can have 2 causes...either from the menu ..and you have to look for view feature and rotate ..or ..select the default ...or ...if nothing will work you have to take in consideration that this can be one of the symptoms that a LCD will develop when it has issues with the ribbon ...and in this case it is a physical case..
Anyway ..if you have a reset button ...this will do the job if it is a setting issue..or look in the menu for view..or something related..and see what are the options ..

Like I said...if you know that this appeared after you dropped it ..or another kinda shock...or humidity issue...do not bother to fix it ..cause it is a ribbon matter and you will need to change it to fix the problem ...

Sony has a recall on some of these ccd imager problems. Contact Sony to see if your model applies, but it sounds like an imager problem on your pal format camcorder. Larry

My camera does not show what i have taped

Regarding no picture in playback is problem mostly of dirty / clogged video head in Sony handy-cam and can be corrected by using good quality video head cleaning tape.
As far as memory stick picture concern, I think lost pictures (42)would be in other folder on memory stick.

UP SIDE DOWN IMAGE PROBLEM

Normal 0 Try this, while the computer is running and the picture is upside down, unplug the camera from the USB Port , wait a few seconds and then plug it back in. I have fixed several that had the same problem by doing this.
Worth a try.
Hope this helps. Bud

How can I prevent the Handy cam to shut down on stand-by as I use the cam for computer recording

Buy one of these:
http://www.signvideo.com/zoom-controller-lanc-dvx-menu.htm

If you plug it into the LANC input on your camcorder it will prevent the camera from going into standby mode (assuming you have a camcorder with a Control-L jack).
