Question about Logitech Trackman Marble Trackball

1 Answer

Track marble is now a piece of junk

I bought and original track marble the flesh colored one with the locking ring to hold the marble. It lasted me for years and finally after years of service it became intermittent and i had to buy a new one. I discovered that i couldn't buy one like the original, so i bought one of the grey ones and quickly discovered that logitech had taken one of the best pointing devices on the market and turned it into a piece of junk. I knew then why they were so much cheaper than the original. I have gone through 4 of them in 8 months. with no locking ring the marble wears off the plastic bumps and then it will also before it soon quits working all together. I am a pro online poker player and use notebook computers i have two top of the line ent. specials and am forced to use a junk pointing device thay i have to buy two at a time. What ever posessed you to take the best pointing device one the market and turn it into a disposable junk. after about a month the marble falls out continusly and then it becomes intermitten before it soon quits working all together. I think if you are going to make disposable junk you should label it as such and drop the price to about 4.98 because that is all they are worth if that. A better solution is to put the original back on the market for those of us who use thier computers several hours a day. They were considerable more money but i would be happy to pay for the original quality. Like I said earlier they were the best pointing device on the market. My son used mine one time and went right out and bought one. Now I tell people to not buy them unless, like me they absolutely have to have one.and it will not last. I think four in 7 or 8 months proves you are now making disposable junk.
Sincerely Jerry Irwin re
P.S. if you have any of the old models laying around i will buy at least two. One to use right away and a spare because my computer is jy livelyhood.

Works intermittently, seems to be the cable. if one moves the cable near the unit to and fro, it connects and disconnects. It's not difficult to replace the 'plug in' cable if they were available as spares. I agree they are the best pointing devices in the short term ,but the manfacturer should be ashamed of the poor build quality. Using cable more suitable to constant movement would solve one of the problems. for £20, it should last five years. Improve the quality or reduce the price drastically.

I am trying to reset my combination on a wordlock bike lock. It has 4 letters.

Hold the lock so that the letters are all upright. Pull the cable out of the lock. On the right hand side you will see a 1/4 inch aluminum piece that protrudes beyond the last letter. That aluminum piece has two flat sides so that you can grab it and twist it. Twist that piece 1/4-turn away from you.
At this point you can now change the letters to set the new combination. Move the letters around so that the 4 letters you want to use to open the lock are inline with the mark that is on the the silver ring (just to the left of the left-most letter).
Now, twist the aluminum piece 1/4-turn back towards you (back to its original position).
Your lock combination is now reset with the new letters you chose.

Red wine on your carrera white marble. You need 1/2 water and 1/2 Stain Rx. Apply with a sponge or rag and rinse off all the soapy residue with water. Gone as fast as it was spilled.

Optical track ball is sticking. How clean it and what to avoid?

An "optical" mouse has *NO* track-ball.

If you do have a mouse with a track-ball, then rotate the "ring" that holds the track-ball inside the mouse, to "unlock" the ring. Remove the ring. Look inside the mouse. You'll see two rollers.
Look for accumulated "gunk" in a ring at the center of each roller. Gently scrape each roller, to clean it. Re-insert the mouse. Re-insert the ring. Rotate it, to "lock" the ring into place.

I can't remember how to play chinses checkers. I have the ''very old board and all the marbles. My mind is a blank and I played it as a child....... Many years ago

Step 1 Select at least one set of 10 colored checkers (actually pegs or marbles) that correspond with the colored area of the board where they are sitting.
  • Step 2 Place the colored pegs you have chosen in the holes of the triangular area nearest to you and identify the opposite area of the board in which you will be attempting to move all of your pieces. If there are less than six players, remember to play opposite another player.
  • Step 3 Flip a coin to see who will move first, and then go around to the left.
  • Step 4 Choose your first move carefully. Just as in other strategy-based board games2_bing.gif, your first move is one of the most important. It is best to make your initial moves in a manner that will allow freedom of movement for the remainder of the pieces that are lined up behind it.
  • Step 5 Move your pieces one space at a time, in any direction, as long as it's in a line.
  • Step 6 Jump other players' pieces if there is a space open after that piece and within the same line. You can also jump your own pieces, following the same rationale. You may also jump multiple times if there are sufficient spaces available between the pieces (as in a double jump in checkers).
  • Step 7 Get all 10 of your pieces into your opponent's triangular area in order to win the game.
