    can you state brand and model and clarify if you mean the jack where the charger connects to I will give you a link to the schematics I done that in several occasions and if that's what it is you have to be good with soldering guns it has to be taken apart

    let me know

    I am confused by what you mean the DC input is broken. Are you referring to the AC adapter? Or do you mean where it plugs into the rear of the unit?

This is not something you can do yourself. It requires soldering. You first have to remove the old jack then solder the new one to the board.You can,t over heat the board and alot of other stuff. We repair jacks for 110.00$.Look us up on facebook...rippy computers or call 704 820-6433.we would be glad to help you if we can.We do alot of mail order repairs.

I picked up this monitor at a yard sale it says dc input?? is this the power supply? how do i hook up a ac cord?

If it says DC input and there are no other socket which has three prongs(this is for the AC input), all you need is an adapter, which you will plug to a wall socket and the other end would be plugged to the flat panel, it works like a transformer, just like any power supply, like for laptops, just try to find the correct voltage, 12v,16v or whatever is needed by the panel. Often you can find the voltage require on the panel itself, reading as POWER INPUT, xx volts or Power requirement.

The input on the laptop where i stick the charger inn isn't working, what do i do?

DC Jack diagnosis:
1. Test power adapter for output voltage. Bend the power cable in various directions while doing this to be sure that there is no broken conductors in the cable.
2. If power adapter is Ok, connect it & see if the power LED on the laptop will glow when you jiggle the power connector in various directions. If yes, then the DC jack might be loose or damaged, & need to be either re-soldered or replaced.
3. If not, then disassemble the laptop. Remove any components that attach to the laptop's motherboard first (e.g. battery, hard drive, RAM, wireless card, optical drive, ... etc.)
4. Next, remove the keyboard & the LCD screen.
5. Finally, unscrew all screws that hold the upper cover & lower cover together so that you could gain access to the motherboard.
6. Inspect the solder points connecting the DC jack to the motherboard. Make sure that none of them is loose. If any, re-solder them.
7. Inspect the center pin in the DC jack. Make sure that it is not broken or loose. If it is, then you might need to replace the DC jack.
8. When you are done, re-assemble back the laptop

Kinda pricey, but it's the whole harness. No soldering required.
**Open up your machine and visually compare them! It SHOULD be right, but sometimes they're different even though they are for the same model.

Hope this helps!

Our Laptop just keeps going off. Replaced the AC Adaptor, and still having the came problem.

Need more info, but if it powers and shows it is charging, then it is probably a heat issue. I would try taking a can of compressed air to the fans and air slots. try to get any dust out.

Otherwise, if it is not charging properly it may be the dc input, meaning either a dc input cable (about 20$) or a new mother board (a few hundred);
