Can be a bad signal cable, or even a problem with your control unit. Have you checked the wires, these models tend to wear quicker with the control unit attached to the sub. Check to see if another pair of speakers work just in case, if so, its either the wires, which you can check, or the system might be shot.

it seems like the output jack of your pc isnt fairing well and does sound like it needs replacement but i cant tell if the speaker wire your connecting to is a desktop or to a laptop but by all means it does sound like the output jack is damaged and need of repair

First, we must determine if the problem is with the speakers themselves, or with hardware or software of the computer. Try plugging a set of headphones into the audio out jack of your system (often times, this will be a green colored jack). Play sound on the computer while listening to the headphones, can you hear the sound? If so, the problem is with the speakers, otherwise, you need to troubleshoot software/hardware of the system. Another method would be to try plugging these speakers into the headphone jack on an mp3 player, mobile cd player, stereo, or similar device. Aside from the system not putting out sound, the speakers could be plugged into the incorrect jack on the system (not audio out, OR not audio out on the correct device), or turned all the way down.

I shocked the stereo jack for my 5300e when i was going to plug it in after taking off my coat. it made a loud noise over the speakers and now the left front and rear channels only very very faintly play...


you have probably damaged the amp chip. inside the radio on the back wall there is a chip with around 10 pins on it that chip is the amp it controls the volume and the left right and front and back, that part will need replacing.

This article contains tips for resolving sound related issues in Windows XP.
No Sound From all speakers
  • Check that the speakers are powered on.
  • Check that the speakers are connected to the correct ports on the PC. This is particularly important If the customer has both integrated sound and a sound card.
  • If the speakers have a volume control button - ensure that this is turned up.
  • Check that the Windows Audio service is running. If this is not running then many of the subsequent troubleshooting steps will not work. Go to Start->Run and type services.msc. Double cliick on Windows Audio. Select Start if possible and check that the Startup Type is Automatic. Click OK.
  • If the speakers are digital speakers then try forcing the sound card to use digital. Go to Start->Control Panel->Sound and Audio Devices.. On the Volume tab, click the Advanced button in the Device Volume section. In the Volume Control window, below the Play Control Volume slider, click Advanced. If this does not show select Advanced Controls from the Options menu. Select Digital Output Only
  • If possible try an external audio source like a Walkman, CD, or MP3 player (connect the speakers to the headphone jack)
  • Check that the volume control in Windows isn't muted or turned too low. See the screen shots below. Go to Start->Control Panel and double click on Sounds and Audio Devices.

Hi there , and happy new year ... The Cables are usualy Colour Coded , so try plug the Green Color coded Wire into the Green Jack Socket ...make sure it isnt connected to the Microphone socket..
