Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

Canon PC-6RE B/W Copier. Bought new and has not seen much use; still on 3rd toner cartridge. Copier does not have an auto document feed feature but does have a blank paper auto feed. Copier will start and warm up and make one copy fine. However, when attempting to make multiple copies, the auto paper feed mechanism pauses just long enough in introducing the blank sheet that the copier begins another document platen scan before the blank sheet is in place so that only the last part of the scan is copied. Copier is probably 20+ years old, but again has seen little use. Has only seen home use. *** I use Bonded 24 lb. paper. Do the rubber paper pick up rollers ever break down with age, i.e. the rubber material. If so, can the rubber be reconditioned with any cleaner/solvent. Any available service manuals for this copier; if so where. Any maintenance that would be required simply due to age of copier.

Hi,the fact that your copier has not seen much use is not the main issue but being abandoned over long period of time might be responsible for the problem, just like parking your car in the garage for a long period, definately a problem will occur the day you decide to drive it,the rubber material of the pick up rollers get weak with age just like the elastic limit of a rubber material diminishes with age, However,a good cleaning agent to rejuvinate the rubber rollers is FEDRON,this is a clear liquid, blended of high quality refined chemicals specially formulated for cleaning rubber, teflon, metal and similar materials,it cleans and at the same time revitalises, this is how to use it.
Generously apply fedron to the rubber rollers with a saturated brush or absorbent cloth no need to rub in,just allow to dry for about 20secs With a clean moistened cloth or brush, wipe briskly until surface is clean.
In addition, ensure to store the paper to be used in a very hot environment, like a box fitted with an electric bulb, but there must be adequate distance from the bulb to the paper,so a fire doesn't brake out, this will also enhance the performance of your copier,
Thanks and take care

Did you change the toner cartridge? If so, then check the fuser for a stripe on it which may be toner. Make sure the inside of the copier is clean. However your symptom sounds like a faulty toner cartridge. Try swapping it out.

I have a Canon PC-6re copier. It is jamming

Use a thin but strong piece of card board (such as the back of a standard yellow pad notebook) and easily force feed it through machine. I had to use this method with our Canon Pixma MP190 printer. Hope this helps, Good luck!!

Serving my Canon PC-6RE Copier.

there are some things better left for others to do. copiers is one of them. you cant explain in a paragraph what needs to be done and how to do it. there are alot of things that can be broken by people who dont know what they are doing. your machine is so old that you cant get parts for it anyway. you would be better off getting a new machine.
