Garmin Nuvi won't talk. No sound when programming

Garmin Nuvi won't talk. No sound when programming (no beeps when inputting info.) Has volume set at 90%. FM transmitter turned off. Used to give spoken info e.g. turn in .2 miles, etc. Now nothing. The map is accurate, just no sound.

If the mute is not checked, try plugging in a set of headphones. if you now hear sound, your internal speaker is blown. Please see this link:

Jim, I visited your page and want to submit a request for a quote, but when I try clicking on what appears to be the appropriate link from the navigation bar on the left, I get a 500 internal server error message. Help?

Your Mute may have been turned on accidentally. Check your Volume page on the left hand side just below the 0% marker.

My garmin will not talk to me. I have the volume at 100%

get the Garmin Express program: Garmin Express
watch this video:

Then go to tools and find the voices portion. choose your language, install at the bottom and then check to make sure your Garmin has a voice chosen. if it does ... check to see if the device beeps and that mute is off. and if it does not even beep then you must have a bad speaker

Nuvi 2555mt lost voice

First, do you hear beeps when you press a selection on the screen? If yes, then your speaker is OK and the audio circuits are OK in the unit. Make sure that you have a voice selected in the voice menu. Some units have an audio mixer screen and provide different volume settings for navigation (voice) and system (beeps). maybe the volume for the voice (navigation) is set to off. If you don't hear any beeps when you touch the screen AND you don't hear a voice, make sure that the sound isn't set to be muted. If the sound isn't muted, you may have a defective speaker. Nuvi 255w has no voice navigation

Do you hear beeps when you press a function on the screen? If so, this rules out a blown speaker. If you don't hear any beeps, your speaker may be blown out.

Is the sound muted? Is the sound level set to 0? Check by pressing the speaker icon at the main menu.

Volume

Make sure that the sound is not check marked as Muted. There is a bug in the 14xx firmware that after being on the charger, you may not hear any sound until actually programming a route, forcing the unit to speak directions. While it is possible for the speaker to fail, it is rare. More info about sound issues can be found here: http://www.sharc.net/gps_audio_repair.htm

My garmin nuvi 205 is not talking

hello. Begin by turning the volume all the way on. It is the little dial on the upper right side of the garmin. If that doesn't give you sound, return the unit as it is under warranty.

My garmin nuvi 205 quit talking. volume is at 100% and not on mute. beep sounds work but when in route i have no next turn or direction sounds. screen map does work.

I have a 750. I went to settings, language and restored the defaults. The Voice was blank when I went to that screen. I am not sure if the 205 has the language setup or not, but this should solve other Garmin problems. And as a bonus, if you want to solve the problems with the US, Fire Congress check out http://FireCongress.org
