Question about Brother IntelliFAX 2800 Laser Fax
If they are black streaks and they are always in the exact same place, open the cover and clean the skinny little scanning glass. It might be ink or lint. If it's white streaks then it's in the same place but it's dried correction tape or fluid, etc.

You have to determine if your FAX is the problem or the sending FAX has the problem. The first thing to do is make a copy or print a report. If it comes out clean you FAX is NOT the one with the problem. The sender has to get their optics cleaned.
On the other hand, if it's still "streaky" then your fax has a problem. First off remove the cartridge and look inside it, if you see toner get a can of compressed air (sold in office supply stores to clean keyboards) and blow out as much as you can. I suggest taking the machine outside the toner dust can make quit a mess. Make a few copies (5 - 10) to check it out. Each copy should come out with less misplaced toner.
