Hi!

I don't seem to understand if you can even enter/start the setup process... Do you manage to successfully boot from the CD??

Regards,
Pelu.

    Hi again!

I guess setup DOES recognizes the hard drive (so it's not a missing SATA AHCI drivers...), right??

If so, it sounds like something that is caused due to a faulty hard disk drive. You can use HDD Regenerator (download, burn, boot from CD) to try fixing BAD SECTORS on your HDD. If it founds any - it's recommended that you'll replace the drive (even if it fixed them all! Bad sectors sometimes reappear...).

I'm here if you need any further assistance!

    Good luck,
    Pelu.

I am getting a blue scree error on my IBM Thinkpad R51 that says unmountable_Boot_Volume. It will not let me run on save mode...it brings me back to the blue scree error message. I have windows xp

Unmountable boot volume = The file system is damaged and cannot be mounted.
To fix that do the following:
1.Put the CD first in the boot order and boot from the XP install disk.
2.When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.
3.Select your partition - it should be C
4.When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.
5.At the command prompt, type chkdsk /r , and then press ENTER.
6.At the command prompt, type exit , and then press ENTER to restart your computer.
This takes a bit longer, but the system should boot back into Windows.

I wiped xp home edition from IBM thinkpad r51 laptop and installed win xp pro with sp2. Now I have no sound and cannot setup an internet connection. I am sure it is drivers but I don't know which ones to...

Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEB site - support/download page and download the latest Windows XP device drivers for your model computer, Use this link: -
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=%2Fproductselection%2Flandingpages%2FbrowseByProductLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo&brandind=10&validate=true
You can download the various drivers and then you click on and run the various driver files, they will then unzip and expand into a folder on C:\drivers Then install the various drivers from this folder.

By the way, you should install SP3 it contain some security bug fixes.

IBM ThinkPad 600E trying to put os on it

that is correct.. IF you are using windows 2000 the files are NOT the same as the files under XP.. Your best bet is to EITHER install the complete XP or find the win2k installation disk,, even an upgrasde disk for win 200 can be found probably around 100.00. IF the system isn't booting from your XP disk IS Your disk an ORIGINAL or a copy of the original?.. If for example your CD rom is drive E then see if you can find a win XP emergency boot disk and access the CDROM goto e:\windows\i386 then run the setup program, many cases this will overwrite your existing OS.. but do so at your OWN RISK I will not be accountable if you lose any of your important files.. some win98 emergency boot disks can access the cdrom but you may have to make certain additions to the autoexec.bat and/or config.sys files. be careful when using DOS because you can completely delete EVERYTHING on the HDD if you use the right command(s). As A DOS BABY I have performed many lazarus miracles but I have been using dos since the early 70's

Blue Screen on R51

You will need to do a clean install of your operating system from the disks supplied with your computer, and then immediately afterward, supply yourself with some means of backup of your precious files, which if you have not already performed previous backups are, alas, gone.

Suggest that the backup method be a large external drive where you can store several copies of disk images for your laptop, which will prevent future data loss.

Sorry.

Hi, I have an IBM R51 Type 2887 Thinkpad that came with Windows XP Home edition. I formatted the laptop and put the Windows XP Professional in it. However, it could not install few key drivers (Eg. CD ROM,...

You need to access a computer that is connected to the Internet, (try going to a friend or work mate or nternet cafe etc.)

Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEB site - support/download page and download the latest Windows XP audio driver for your model laptop,
www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-39956.html

Copy the downloaded files and install them on your computer.
