Question about Northwestern Bell Classic Favorite 52860 Corded Phone

1 Answer

Do inexpensive corded phones have an internal battery? I just hooked up a phone that was stored away for a couple of years. It takes a few seconds to get a dial tone, but that time seems to be getting quicker after awhile.

The 52860 is a phone line powered phone. There may be a memory backup battery or capacitor but it should not effect the operation of the phone drawing dial tone. Perhaps the hookswitch contacts are oxidized from storage and using it is cleaning them up a bit. If there is a battery, it should be accessible from either the bottom of the phone or, more typically, from under the directory card on the base.

Why won't my rechargeable ******** recharge?

The charger or batteries are defective. Batteries can only be recharged a couple of hundred times. If the batteries are several years old, even if they have only been recharged a few times are no good. If the charger is inside the product and it goes bad, time to throw away the product. If the charger is outside the product on the cord, you can purchase a new one.

I think my phone may have gotten wet. the phone turns on when connected to the charger, it says the phone is charging. but when i turn the phone on it will only stay on a couple seconds before powering...

This can be easily caused by one failed cell in the battery pack. Any cheap multimeter would let you check the pack's voltage in seconds. I advise everyone to own one of the cheap Chinese meters (under $20 US; sometimes WAY under- check eBay) before they stop taking our worthless money. Look for 'digital multimeter.' You can also buy them in auto parts stores and, of course, Radio Shack. They are simple to use and very handy to have around your car or home.

We have an old Unisonic model 9325 corded phone that has the capability to program phone numbers in it but cannot find the manual. Any way to get instructions on how to program with numbers?

I have an old Unisonic 9725, and the programming method for that phone may work for yours.
1. take handset 'off hook'
2. press: store
3. enter phone no.
4. press store
5. press memory button 1, 2, or 3...or 0-9
6. put handset back 'on-hook'

to use: take handset off hook, and press the memory number that applies.

Lg voyager- endless power cycle- how can i pull info off?!?!?

I just had my phone loop into an endless power cycle this morning, and this is what I did to get my pics and ringtones off:

1. Pull out the battery.
2. Hook the phone up to the computer with a data cable. The phone screen should show "battery required", and should stay on.
3. Open up BitPim (other programs may work) and get the files you need.

Once I had my files saved from the phone, I went ahead and tried to get the phone to turn back on normally with it still plugged into the computer.
As soon as I put the battery back in, the phone screen switched to the charging screen while still off. I power cycled it this way a few times, then unplugged the cable, and powered it on, it rebooted twice and finally powered back on normally.
Hope this helps you out!

Phone turns off every couple minutes and then turns on by itself.

What I would do is turn it off completelly for a few minutes. take out the battery and let it cool down for a few minutes. If you have a battery that if fully charged put it back in and turn on your phone. if your battery is not totally charged, charge it. A phone whose battery is not fully charged may cause your phone to flip out. sometimes it's also water damage to the phone that causes it to turn off on its own.
Water damage happends from body heat, from taking it to the bathroom when you're in the shower, or from putting it directly in water.

Hope this helps.

Iphone won't take a charge

I've looked for others with the same problem as you, and I haven't found anything.
I have a few things for you to try, they're rather simple so you may have already thought of them.
First thought, try a different iPhone to USB2 cord.
Try a different type of iPhone charging unit, i.e., car charger, wall charger, etc... Best way to gain access to the more options would be at an Apple Retail store, at least you'll know that the cord you're trying definitely does work.
If the iPhone does connect to your computer, but won't sync or charge, see if you can get it to "Restore".
If you can't get it to recognize your iPhone at all, take it to an Apple Retail store and have them play with it at the Genius Bar.
If you're feeling DIY, try cleaning the contacts on both your iPhone and its cord with some denatured alcohol on a Q-Tip.
If you would like to phone or email me, please feel free. Dan Crowley, 919.280.3101 iKnowApple.com

Can't use the second phone GE model 25861GE3 5.8

You may have several problems. First, you should verify that the 2nd phone works. Unplug the battery from the "good" phone and place it into the "bad" phone. Then try to reset the "bad" phone by placing in the homebase charger for 2o seconds.

If this doesn't fix the 2nd phone, then it has an internal problem, possibly.

As far as the 2nd charger goes, please verify that it works by placing the "Good" phone in it to see if it will charge it.

Additionaly, you may need to "reset" the whole system. Do this by :
1 Unplug phone line, power to charger base, and remove the batteries.
2 Wait a couple of minutes.
3 Plug in battery first, then phone line, and finally the power cord.

Then try to set the phones in the basecharger. (If the new battery is not charged yet, then you will have to charge it first!)
