Uploading MTS files from the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7

I cannot upload files from my Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7 camera to my mac. My video editing software - a recent version of final cut pro - does not recognise any files when I connect the flash card. when I try to do this on a PC I can inport the MTS files into Edius, however, the software freezes when I try to export the files into a usable format.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks, Tim

The videos are in AVCHD Lite. We are trying to edit them in Final Cut Pro 7 on a MacBook Pro (OS 10.5.8) or in Edius Neo 2 on an HP Pavilion dv5. Both are fairly new computers and we have been able to edit successfully in the past. But recently the software on the mac has just stopped recognising the file types and whilst I can import into Edius, it crashed when I try to export out. Any further advice would be great. Thanks

AVCHD Lite is a subset of AVCHD format, which identifies devices that are capable of 720p/30fps recording only. Comparing with Full HD, the 720p/30fps video is recorded in the normal AVCHD 720p/60 format, but every other frame is duplicated, resulting in thirty actual frames per second.

Are the videos in AVCHD Lite or Motion JPEG? Most computers can't handle AVCHD.....most of the time, you can only play them on an HD tv.

I copied this from dcresource.com concerning the problem with AVCHD on a Mac.
Mac users don't get any video viewing/editing software with the camera. If you have iMovie 08 or newer, or Final Cut Express/Pro, you can get them off of the camera fairly easily. However, they play back at double the frame rate, and I believe that's because the software does not natively support AVCHD (it instead converts the movies to another format). Panasonic says that Apple is aware of this issue, and they hope it will be resolved shortly.

The above issue was apparently resolved with the iMovie 8.0.3 updateI was able to view the videos on my Mac using the latest version of VLC. For burning AVCHD videos to a DVD or Blu-ray disc, you'll want to pick up Roxio Toast 10(which can also convert them).
By the way, if you don't want to deal with AVCHD Lite's limitations, you can go back to the old Motion JPEG codec in the camera's movie settings menu. The file sizes will be larger, but you'll still get the same 720p resolution as if you were using AVCHD.

Some programs do not allow AVCHD Lite to be imported and edited. so you have to choose another program to convert your Panasonic Lumix AVCHD Lite files to ediatble in Final Cut

The program called Aunsoft MTS Converter for Mac is the recommended AVCHD Lite Converter which can transcode AVCHD Lite video to other common video format for easily importing and editing, like AVI or MOV for Final Cut, Adobe Premiere. I have tested it and the output video files come out with high quality.

What video editing software for Panasonic DMC-TZ7

Till now, there is no such software which can edit mts file. What people usually do is to convert mts to other regular format first, then use Windows Movie Maker, Sony vegas or other edit tools to do some editing.
I always use Pavtube Video Converter(http://www.pavtube.com/video_converter/) to help me convert mts files to other formats supported by my edit tool. For example, i tried to convert mts to wmv to import my Windows Movie Maker for editing.
