How do I remove the screen on a packard bell M5262? I'm trying to access the motherboard to increase the RAM but I can't get into the guts of the machine.

Actually you do not have to remove the screen.... if we are on the same page about the model. to upgrade the ram you have to access it from the bottom. there is 2 access panels, one with the fan exhaust that is the one you have to remove. on that cover there is 3 screws, remove those that will release the battery cover, remove that after this step you have full access to the battery, there is a ribbon attached to it, pull the battery out from the ribbon. at this point you can open the plastic brackets holding the ram and you can pull them out. Insert the new ram (make sure it is the right one). secure it with the plastic brackets, replace the battery pack, then the cover, make sure that you use the notches on the cover and replace the screws.

if it works for you don't forget to rate me
thx

Hi,
Click on this link to download the manual. ftp://ftp.packardbell.com/pub/itemnr/6918830100/EasyNoteM5-M7DM.pdf
I think that it is the correct manual because it is for the M5 and M7 series, and yours is an M5262. Go to pg 10. It will show you how to access the memory module by first removing the battery and keyboard. Sorry if it is not the correct manual. Please let me know if it helps.
Thanks!

Local help is wrong. Windows is "crashing" during a "normal" start-up. Reinstalling Windows might fix the problem. Or, it could be "bad" RAM -- remove all-but-one of the RAM sticks, and try again to boot. If it still fails, remove that stick, and insert one of the "removed" sticks, and try again.

Will it boot into "safe mode" ?

Some programs need a substantial amount of RAM and in case of computers with smaller RAM, they tend to freeze. Either close some of the running programs or increase the RAM capacity. In every likelihood it should work.

There is no video at all. the computer is starting but nothing on screen. not a cable problem with the monitor. any ideas?

Try reinserting the RAM. This is a common problem. If you have 2 ram modules, try changing slots.

I have an M5262 Packard Bell laptop and I wish to upgrade memory. Can you tell me where I can locate memory slots on my laptop and how to install

Hello

OK, this is not so easy installing the ram in this model, because you need to take of the screen in order to get to the case screws to open the panel to install the ram module.

I would suggest that you buy the ram modules you need and take it to a computer hardware shop let them install it for you. I am suggesting this, cause there is a couple of components that can very easilly be damaged during this process.

Kind regards
Andrea

The packard bell motherboard i have is the ga6wmm7 alarm issues

I understand that your connections are snug, but that beep code means RAM issue. Humor me and swap the RAM in the slots. If that doesn't do it you may want to run Memtest or try other "known good" RAM.

This is hard you have to take the laptop apart to get to the ram. but you have to remove the screen to get to the case screws.
