It is possible that there is some foreign substance inside the IO port. Blow some air on it to remove the foreign object. Do not use the tip of a pencil as the lead may break and remain inside the port. This may make things worse as the lead is really graphite (a conductor of electricity).

I have a TI84 plus texas instruments i have removed both the batteries in order to reset the unit but it still has not resetted the unit. All I am getting all zeros on the screen

First try removing all four AAA batteries and the small lithium backup battery (above the four AAA batteries). Leave all batteries out for five minutes, then replace them and try to start the calculator. If this doesn't work...

Replace all but 1 AAA battery. Press and hold the "CLEAR" button on the calculator. While holding the "CLEAR" button down, replace the missing AAA battery. While still holding the "CLEAR" button, turn the calculator on. The display should read "RAM Cleared". Release the "CLEAR" button and press again to remove the message.

If that doesn't work, remove 1 AAA battery again. Repeat the preceding instructions with the "DEL" key: With the battery removed, press and hold the "DEL" key. With the "DEL" key held down, replace the battery and turn the calculator on. The screen should say "Waiting... Please install calculator software now." Release the "DEL" key. Download this program onto your computer (from Texas Instruments). Connect the calculator to the computer using the USB cable provided with purchase. Run the TI OSDownloader program and follow the on-screen instructions to re-install the calculator's operating system.

When replaced batteries and turned on it said "RAM CLEARED" now its running extremely slow. Rest ram default - no help What is the problem and what can be done to speed it up

If you change batteries you get RAM Cleared Message especially if Button Cell backup battery is depleted or very weak.
If calculator seems sluggish and runs very slowly, some foreign material may be stuck in IO port. Blow on the port with compressed air in order to dislodge the foreign material: A piece of pencil lead (graphite) may be the reason, because graphite is an electrical conductor and somewhat shorts the port.

TI-84 Calculator does not turn on.

The applications that run on the TI84Plus Sliver Edition run without a hitch on the TI84Plus and also on the TI83Plus. The only major difference between the 84Plus and the 84Plus SE is the amount of flash memory.
Here is what I would suggest to you.
  1. Replace the main batteries with fresh ones.
  2. Adjust the screen contrast: a. Press [2nd] key and release it. b. Press and HOLD [UpArrow] to darken or [DownArrow] to lighten screen.
  3. Clear the calculator Ram. Usually it is cleared if the calculator is left without main batteries for a while, but you never know.
  4. To clear the Ram, press [2nd][MEM][7:Reset][1:All Ram][2:Reset]. Press [CLEAR] to erase the "Ram Cleared" message.
  5. Go to the, and download the TI Connect software, if you do not have it already.
  6. Install it on the computer and run the program.
  7. Then connect the calculator to the computer using the TISilver Link USB cable or the Standard USB to mini B cable (if you have one).
  8. Turn you calculator ON
  9. In the TI connect program window, press the Updates button.
  10. The TI connect should recognize you calculator and ask you what to download.
  11. At first select to download the latest OS (version 2.43 at this time).
  12. Later you can click the Updates button and select the Latest version of the applications installed on calculator.
If you calculator does not suffer from hardware problems, your calculator should be restored to health.

Hope it helps.

When i enter in a function on my TI-84 plus, and click graph, it will just go to a blank screen with "]" showing up.

You should make it a habit to clear calculator memory before a new type of problems, Graphing, Statistics, Geometry, Financial etc. It will spare you a lot of grief.

To reset the RAM, press [2nd][MEM][7:Reset][1:ALL RAM][2:RESET] [ENTER][ENTER]. Then Press [CLEAR] to clear the message RAM...

You may have to adjust contrast after the operation. For that you press
1. Press [2nd] and release the key.
2. Press [ArrowUp] to increase contrast or [ArrowDown] to decrease it.
3. Repeat Step1 and Step2 in sequence until contrast is adequate.

Do not mix ArrowUp and ArrowDown: because effects cancel one another. You may have to repeat the sequence several times.

If there are no hardware problems, this should work
Hope it helps. If it does not, well, remember I tried.

Key problems

hope you already checked batteries. If not do it. Was the closet Hot? It takes a small allen wrench to remove the back of the calcul but it worked well for me. I cleaned all my buttons off. and then cleaned the front face that the buttons go through. Warning - move very very slowly or all the buttons fall off and you may not be able to remember the order they should be in. ALso, your ram will be erased so back it up first on your computer.
