Summary

Usage of compatible ink and leave the printer idle too long may cause printhead clogging
What should you do if you get this problem. Relax; you may recover the printhead by unclogging it. Follow these steps to unclog the printhead

1. Right click in the printer driver name
2. Select Properties menu
3. Click Maintenance tab
4. Click on cleaning sign for regular cleaning. Perform this up to 3 times.
5. If this does not work, perform Deep Cleaning

And if that not work

Some times it needs a good clean up but this is up to you if you want to do this,
But after you done this prime the printer so it gets the inks back in the heads, it may take a little time for the inks to work.

Ok.

There is fluid cleaner for this but I can never find any in the shops the only ones I seen is when they sell them in Tesco but they come in with the ink refill bottles so I just use worm water by it self on a cloth and dabbing on the heads to clean them, it will not harm the heads but not to much water.

Some heads are on the inks them self but some have them inside the printer so I not know your printer so if the heads are inside you need to get them out you may find that some heads will just clip out put some need to be unscrewed so you got to know how they come out so be careful and not push to hard on them, if the heads are on the ink then it is a easy job to clean them,
It worth a try it worked for me more than ones.

Please all I ask is call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.

Hi my printer won't print black, test colour work but no black, therefore all text to print is blank. I have replaced the ink with a new one and cleaned it 5 times, still no black ink. Thanks

Hi

Clean it manually by removing the black ink cartridge and rub the print head into a paper with rubbing alcohol until ink flows more. Then run the print nozzle to clean the print head thoroughly. After, try to print again.

If not, dip the print head only into hot water for 5 minutes and then run the print nozzle.

Let me know if you need more help

I've just replaced the black ink cartridge for my Epson Stylus TX100, ink level is ok as the indicator shows. But i get blank prints for black, other colors are fine. What's wrong with the black ink...

There is nothing wrong with the black ink. Just run the head cleaning for better printing.

1. Go to printer and faxes
2. Right click your printer ( Epson Stylus Multifunction Printer/ Copier/ Scanner InkJet)
3. Click printing preferences
4. Click Maintenance Tab
5. Click Head Cleaning
6. Run head cleaning for 5 times then try printing.

I have an HP Photosmart D7560 printer. It worked fine until it was left with no cartridges in it for a few weeks. Put in 5 new cartridges and it would only print black. Tried various head cleaning and...

You may need to clean them manually. Take out each cartridge, clean its electronic panel with tissue soaked in a bit of methylated spirit. Also clean the area of contact in the carriage for each cartridge.
If patiently and carefully done all the colours will begin to print; so long as they are still flowing at the nozzle (not dried at the nozzle). To check if they are not dried at the nozzles, apply folded tissue to each cartridge nozzle and press gently, upon removing it, it should come out well/stained with the respective colour. If not you should place in a saucer or plate with a bit of water. Leave for about ten minutes. Then apply the folded tissue again. Ink should blot it well now. If not it means your ink is dried out and you may need to replace that cartridge.

Good luck and God bless!

Will no print black color doc if any other color ink is empty

actually, its not. the reason is, there is a small resovoire (sp?) in the ink cartridges. if you continue to print, the nozzles will clog up, and can cause all the nozzles not to work. even when you do just black, the printer has to clean at times all the nozzles and if your nozzles are empty, air will go into the deep and dry up the excess ink.

if you are going to do primarily black prints, you should get a black and white laser for those uses only.

There is no ink on the paper

Hi Kontiki28. It seems you either have seriously blocked black ink nozzles, or you have faulty black ink nozzles. You can try the nozzle cleaning method described below, but remember it can take quite a while.

Turn the printer on, and as soon as the print head moves out of its parking position, pull the power cord out of the back, or turn the printer off at the mains. You may now carefully move the print head by hand over to the left hand side out of the way. Look inside the print head parking area on the right and you will see a small rubber cup that comes up to cover the print nozzles when the head is parked (to stop it drying out). Use a syringe or dropper to fill this cup with head cleaning fluid or distilled water. DO NOT USE TAP WATER. Carefully push the print head by hand fully into its parking position so that the cup full of fluid comes up over the print head. Do not turn the printer on at any stage in this process. Leave this for at least 24 hours, then turn the printer on and try a head clean/nozzle check again. If you get any black ink on the nozzle check, then there is hope! Repeat the process until you get a full black nozzle check.

If nothing, repeat the process once more. If still nothing, post a new comment detailing what you have done and the results.

Black not printing about every 3rd line

You have the classic single nozzle failure it appears. You say you have done a nozzle check. This should reveal that one of the black nozzles is not working i.e. there is a single gap in your nozzle check printout for the black nozzles. Now, this may be due to a blocked nozzle. Try the following print head soak process.

Turn the printer on, and as soon as the print head moves pull the power cord out of the back, or turn the printer off at the mains. Carefully push the print head fully into its parking position so that the cup full of fluid comes up over the print head. Leave this for at least 24 hours, then try a head clean again. If still nothing, report back

Black ink not working

Have you carried out any head cleaning cycles. If not, do it, then a nozzle check. Any sign of ink? If so do a couple more nozzle checks. If still not perfect, let it rest for 24 hours to disperse air bubbles. Then repeat. If you already have done lots of head cleans with no result, and you're sure you have a good ink cartridge in, then you can try soaking the print heads for 24 hours (or more), as follows.

Turn the printer on, and as soon as the print head moves pull the power cord out of the back, or turn the printer off at the mains. You may now carefully move the print head by hand over to the left hand side out of the way. Look inside the print head parking area on the right and you will see a small rubber cup that comes up to cover the print nozzles when the head is parked (to stop it drying out). Canon iP90 Printer Ink Issue

I have had the same issue with my iP90.  I think this results from the black ink nozzle becoming clogged.  I was able to get mine to print by cleaning the nozzles. To clean the print nozzles open the Canon IJ Printer Utility, select the printer from the list of available printers and click the maintenance button.  Then, select a cleaning or deep cleaning cycle.
