Make sure that your Xbox 360console is on a flat even surface without any vibration as it utilizes high speed disc reading causing the disc sometimes not to spin properly due to centifugal force thus likely for the system to vibrate in an unusual manner and touch some internal componets inside.

My xbox 360 worked fine yesterday now everytime I put something in it says reading then says open tray

This could be the drive belt slipping, there are plenty of guides on how to clean or change this without voiding your warranty on youtube.
Or this is a drive motor problem its self, when the motor wears it becomes to weak to engage the magnet.
Or this is a magnet issue, the magnet has become detached from the motor so it cant engage, this is sometimes accompanied by a grinding noise. If it is a motor or a magnet problem the console will need opening to access the drive.
Remember thumbs up if this helps.

When I put my game in the xbox 360 it makes a grinding noise and will not load.

This could be a magnet issue, on top of the dvd drive motor there is a magnet that can become detatched, the dvd drive needs to be stripped down and the magnet glued back on, this is usually the case if its a grinding noise.
Hope this helps.

My xbox won't read discs

Here's a link to a site that gives a lot of details about how to repair the DVD drive on your Xbox. Sometimes all it takes is to clean the dust off the lens and mirror. This site offers a tutorial on how to do that. However, before you take your Xbox apart and void any warranty I recommend you go to This is the Microsoft support web site. You can determine if your Xbox is still under warranty. If it is I recommend having Microsoft do the repair.

Magnet issue?

No the thing on top is supposed to move. It sounds like eather a scratched disc or you need to clean the laser lens on the drive.

Not reading disc

Bad Cdrom/dvd
The laser going bad is a pretty common issue with the drives, since it's a Hitachi that spindle motor could be all gunked up with dirt as well and cause that issue also.
if ya have a Hitachi, if it's a Samsung it could just be the laser.
