Hi, that problem, has nothing to do with the speakers. It means you dont have the driver for you computer, What's the maker and model of your computer?

The audio device that your system is referring to was the sound card that was installed to your computer. If this error occured after installing Windows Vista then, your sound card might need new drivers to be installed to make the audio work. You can try to download the drivers online for you audio and it will definitely fix this problem.

I have the speaker but i need the subwoofer for altec lancing ada106 do you know where i can find a nice used one.

if this is the type that is self powered , I be carefull in hooking other types of speakers up to this as in most cases the sub powers the satellite speakers as well , wire mismatch would/could damage your pc's sound card as well
blue tooth connected speakers are just not that expensive nowdays to risk damaging your pc's soundcard

My altec lansing bx1020 is not working after i upgraded my pc to windows 7.

The problem is not with your speakers.
When you upgrade to a new Operating System, sometimes your hardware is not recognized correctly by the new OS.
In your computer, the sound card is not installed correctly. Search for Windows 7 sound drivers for your sound card and install.
If you think the problem is with your speakers, you can check by connecting them to another computer or an audio device.

I AM HAVING ALTEC LANCING AVS300. I HAVE LOADED WINDOWS-7. THE SYS IS SHOWING SOUND DRIVERS ARE NOT INSTALLED.PL HELP AND LET ME DOWN LOAD DRIVERS, TELL ME THE TOTAL SITE ADDRESS.

hello waiyasin, this altec lancing don't need a driver, it just plug and play hardware. if there is a problem with the driver, try to install sound driver from your motherboard driver. if u use external sound card, try to install sound driver from the sound card driver. if u have problem how to install the driver then u just need open the device manager. u can find it on control panel. once u open the device manager window, insert motherboard driver (or sound card driver if u use external driver) into CD Rom. in device manager window u will find sound or audio device, right click it and choose update driver then follow the instruction. that's it.
hope this useful, regards.
NB: if u don't have motherboard (or sound card driver) try to goggling it or reply this solution with your motherboard name (or sound card name), maybe i can help to find your driver.

Can I hook up Altec Landsing VSA3251 to my TV? the plugs do not seem to be the same

you can hook it up to your tv if you have a 3.5mm headphone output jack on the tv :) any powered speaker can get a signal from that jack. mind you, this is only a stereo signal so if you are running a surround setup 5.1 and up you won't have all the channels for your speakers.

Have windows 7 on my new acer aspire 5517; trying to get external speakers (2 different kinds) to work. my generic usb speakers install and it shows they're working properly, but errors when trying to play...

what happens when you plug the speakers in the green port? You might want to try the other audio ports because on a few new computers i have seen the speakers have to be plugged in a different hole. also make sure the speakers are plugged up to the electric plug.

Vista messed up speakers

hi Avsandrick
Happy Holidays!
Doing a driver search don't help much, so I recommend 2 things here, wait until MS, make a Service Pack Cd, for Vista, or go to the Altec Lansing Page and see if for your particular model, there are drivers for vista.
other than that, a generic sound driver, could fix the problem.

Can't increase & decrease the volume

Double check your connections. Still not working fine. Remove the input jack connector and try to touch or hold the tip of the connector, also adjust the volume of the speaker, you should heard loudly the 60 hertz sound of your body signal. Otherwise you have a defective amplifier in the speaker system.
