I set up portforwarding for remote access to the CCTV system but it works for about 15 minutes and then stops. Is there a setting for for always on rather than on demand? Or do you think that is my problem?

What you can do is enable the DMZ on your router and type the DVR's internal IP address and see if it works. Are you sure it's the router and not the firewall ON the DVR?(applicable only to PC DVR)

There is a small button/hole at the back of the router. Usually you need a pin or an sharp object to poke the button.
Press & hold the button for 5seconds to reset your router to the factory settings.
You need to reset your router to defaults then configure it again then it will work fine. For that press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router. Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. Click on WAN settings and set those settings as your internet service provider settings. Enable DHCP if you want to get ip from router. Click on wireless settings enable wireless then enable WEP Security then add WEP code .It is your password to connect wi fi.Then save settings and restart router. Then you can connect your wi fi network with that code.

1. you will have to reload the CD that came with router 2. go to the setup wizard and click in the information provided by you ISP ( Internet Service Provider)
must be hardwired to router and no http://www in box. just put the numbers and hit enter. make sure right number for your router. the num you listed is for linksys.
To change your NAT into open, you need to open some port. That's done using port forwarding feature of your router. Go to www.portforward.com for instructions on how to do it.
hello i had the same problem after i reconfigured mine i could not gain internet access but as it turns out i hadnt payed my bill so it wouldnt allow me access with the same router as you
p.s my isp was digiweb
These routers have a setting underneath the advanced tab (within advanced setup) called UPNP.....all three of the active tick boxes need a tick in (by default they don't) and this will sort the NAT stuff out.
Set the router to defaults and start over, following the directions very carefully. The chances are that you're connected to the router only, not the web.
