It should be cleaned after 75,000 copies. you have to change the maintenance kit, which contain the fuser, drum, developer.

Try to make a copy on the copy board glass are the lines there? If not, make a copy using the adf, if they are there you need to clean the smaller , thinner piece of glass to the right side of the copy board glass. Good Luck

You need to clean or change the charger unit, if you open front cover you will see green unit going inside the drum, you can take it out and clean or if it is too bad change it.

Just purchased a Zerox XC1255 Copier at an Auction. Replaced the toner cartridge because the light was on. The copies seem to have excessive toner in the background of the copies. I am wondering if I...

Could be a bad drum unit. Is the new toner cartridge a refilled? Remanufactured? or Brand New Xerox brand toner? If it is refilled or remanufactured I would run some copies and give it a chance to clear. Sometimes they end up with too much toner in the Developer mix and can be overtoned which causes a general background over the whole page. They should clear up as you run copies, say within 100 pages. Also try manually lightening the copy with the exposure control on the operation panel. If lightening the copy clears all of the background then you need to have the optics cleaned. There are 4 mirrors under the large original glass that need to be cleaned. If all this fails then you are looking at either drum unit or a defective or out of balance toner/developer cartridge.

I replaced the black ink cartidge and made a few copies then blank lines began to appear . So I cleaned the printheads and still the same copy problem Then I went the next step and removed the printheads...

when u say u see black lines when making a copy after installing a new ink it is possible that the scanner glass and scanner lid need to be cleaned and try to check if this printer has a scanner strip--it is located at the automatic doc. feeder--clean it as well then try to make a copy one more time

I get vertical lines in the center of the paper when making copies

Most likely the drum unit. You can run a test for this by making 10 copies of something. Then compare the last copy out with the first copy out. If the lines down the center are worse/much worse on the last copy than they are on the first copy then the problem is 99% sure to be the drum unit. Now if the the drum is in good enough shape you can save a bunch of money by having the drum unit cleaned and a new drum cleaning blade installed. This is the case in most instances. Sometimes you may have to replace the drum unit as a whole.
Drum cleaning blades are $25 or less. The whole unit is in the hundreds of dollars.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

I have a Minolta cs pro 2080 copier, shading on copies

3 possible causes:
1) The optics are dirty thus making your copy darker. The test for this is to manually lighten the copy using the exposure control on the panel of your copier. Lighten the copy several positions and see if the copy gets better. If it does then the optics need to be cleaned.
2) The copier is overtoned. This means that the toner to developer concentration is to high. This will require a trained technician to lower the toner ratio and then recalibrate the toner/developer ration using the F8 mode.
3) If the shading gets much worse as you run say 10 copies in a row then the drum cleaning blade would be the cause. So run 10 copies of something and compare the first copy out with the tenth copy out. Do you see a dramatic difference in the amount of background or "shading"?
Good Luck and thank you for using Fixya.

Produce a dirty copies

Sound like the machine needs a service, The Optics should be cleaned, and adjusted, machine cavity vacuumed out, rollers and belts cleaned, paper feed and fuser rollers inspected. drum and developer checked. Etc, Etc. Once this is done, the copies should be as good as new.

If you need more information, please contact us.

Hope this is of some help.

Canon PC6re copier makes copies that are dark on the long edges

Just fyi, a Canon PC-6e is a copier that is about ten + years old of a model... The drum unit will make the copies better.... But, you most likely need to clean the optic's. Have you tried to make the copies lighter??? If I am correct, there is a small botton on the control pannel that will turn... It will make the copies light one way and darker the other way... Good Luck
