Is there an auto correction feature

The key to the right of the spacebar with the "X" printed on it is the correction button. You just place the carrier on the character to the right of the wrong one and hit the corr. button. The carrier should automatically back up and and remove the incorrect character and if you hold the key down it will continue to back up and remove characters. then you just type in the right one(s). Of course you have to have good "correctable" ribbon and correction tape cartridges installed. If the tapes are old you may have to advance them by typing and correcting or by manually advancing them before they will work. If the correction doesn't remove all the ink from the paper you may have a bad ribbon and/or correction tape.

When you type, each character you strike actually types another letter.

first try turn typewriter off, (button on left panel toward the back), then turn it back on, and while hold down the CODE button, press RESET key, the whole print head will move and reset

if that doesn't work, power off again, open the cover, release the lever to the Daisy Wheel, and inspect that Daisy Wheel - mine has a bent forward letter, and another letter was kinda stuck to the side of another letter... I gently fix both letters, put the Daisy Wheel back in, firmly lock it in place with the lever, close the cover... and voila, it works like a charm.

While you have it open you might want to dust (use the cleaning spray can duster)... You wouldn't believe what I found in my typewriter... Good luck!

If that doesn't work, I would replace the Daisy Wheel.

IBM wheelwriter types wrong letters

Try holding the code key and pressing the "L". If that dosen't do it remove the batteries turn it off wait a minite and restart this will put everything at default setting and clear the memory. If you still have the problem Press code "L" hold down the "L" type 001 to set the keyboard to U.S. If this works you need a keyboard for a permanent repair. For a keyboard contact Geo. Beyers Co.
