Question about Computers & Internet

I need an audio driver to run my Gigaware 2.1 multimedia speakers (model 40-288) on a Dell Optiplex 280 desktop that has a Windows 7 operating system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you! I had actually tried the original driver but it won't work for Windows 7. The other did not work either. It says I am missing the HDA bus driver. I am going to call Microsoft tomorrow to see if such a thing exists for Windows 7.

This is your original audio driver for Windows XP, but Windows 7 did not come on the Dell Optiplex 280 originally so is not on the site. As a result, you may need an updated driver from the original equipment manufacturer. If that is the case...

This may work if the original driver does not.

Hardware manufacturer of optiplex GX 620 audio controller

You can download the audio and device drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on thebottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Taglabel is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where thespecific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you selectthe Windows of the drivers for your Windows operating system. There's a collection of drivers for the GX280 for Windows 2000 and XP on the Dell website: http://is.gd/ejJcM
If you're running a later version of the operating system (for example a 32 bit version of Windows 7) this webpage might have a solution that will help: http://is.gd/ejJmo (Microsoft Technet community)

Did you install it to the factroy default installation or did you install windows anew?

You need to install the Dell sound drivers. They're found on the dell home page or on your media that came with the Optiplex.

Also, check the system control / administtration / hardware section to see if windows potted a problem with the hardware.
