I turn my ps3 on, the green light comes on but the screen stays blank. I tried all the holding the ps buttons combi nations. What do yoy think my problem is

Stupid question i know ,buut, have you pressed AV on your TV remote !!

try holding poew buton again let it beep 3 times
then hold it a second time and it would beep once solid beep and then listen for two short beeps then release the power button you will see a screen marked connect controller with usb and press ps button to continue you are now in service mode then just restore default settings and you should be up in hdmi or av

You can also try the steps below. Its from PlayStation Forum:

1. Turn off Playstation®3.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

The current Recovery Menu supports:
• Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION®3 System.
• Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
• Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
• Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION®3.
• Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION®3 System

If the above steps still does not solve the problem, then I think will have to update your Ps3.

Update your PS3 (in the settings menu the 1st option).

Go on the internet browser on the PS3 then go on the menu press triangle then on one of them there are delete cookies and the delete the others as well as cookies.

This might put the PS3 on order.

I will advice you try this steps below to fix the problem, but allow your ps3 to cool first.

You could also try this as well: put the PS3 on then press the eject button (with no disc in) then hold it and switch the PS3 off at the back with your finger on the eject button still holding it, then put it back on and the fan test should be working this may cool it down. It might be over heating.

But if your problem is not still solved, then maybe you should call sony for further assistance.

If your display settings aren't set to automatic this can occur. Example: if you have set resolution to 1080i and are trying to play it on a display that has 1080p you will get a blank screen or no signal message. you will have to connect your PS3 to the last display you had an image on and change the "display setting" to "automatic" for your PS3 to work on all displays. when you choose a specific resolution to the "display settings" it will only work on that specific resolution. hope this helps.

Ok this should problebly work if the ps3 is on but the red light is on(NOT GREEN) hold your finger on the on button untill is turns red again do the same but this time there will be a beeping sound and a nother one but the 2 one will make 2 sounds nou take your finger of a screen will apear say restore system about 2 times and that should work but plzzz rate me......I think this will work.

Your tv screen has problems with the video mode
that has setted up on your ps3, hold the power button till hear two beeps, this will reset the video mode of the ps3, and leavse you at a screen to set up the video mode of the ps3.

Sound like maybe, your input has changed , maybe from sd to hd .Try holding the ps3 button down for 4-5 seconds when you turn it on, this should reset the input mode

When tv and ps3 backswitch turned on hold down the front power button when off until the ps3 has done a double beep after the intitial beep and wait for a max of 1 min and initial set up screen should appear

Read this very carefully. Turn off your ps3 from the back. Then turn it back on wait unit the light is red. Turn on the system through the front keep holding the power on. You will hear a beep one time that just tell you that the ps3 is powering on keep holding the button until you hear the second beep this will rest your video setting.
