Question about GE JVM2070 Microwave Oven
Shorted Touch Screen on JVM2070? How do I fix it? GE Service says they need to come out. It's 6 years old. They want $79 to diagnoise + parts + labor. If I can't fix, I should I think just get a nw one? Any help out there?
These ovens are nightmares when they fail out of warranty...
The touch screen assembly is not meant to be be taken apart for repairs, only replaced. And the assembly runs about $455 (just part cost!), depending on your full model number suffix.
Add to that the $79 to visit the home, plus $75-90 to actually do the work, plus whatever parts markup, and you'd be better off replacing the microwave.
If you insist on the same model, you might try eBay. They appear there often.

Testimonial: "Very honest answer and to the point. All GE would say was the $79 + parts & labor. For a $300ish microwave. Easier to buy another. Thanks"
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
