Question about HP Pavilion ze5185 Notebook
Operating system not found is the message I get when trying to turn on my ze5185. If I leave it on for several hours with this message on the display it will start. My guess it has a thermal open which expands and makes contact when it gets warm after displaying this message for several hours.
Could be a sign that hard drive is failing or a problem with Windows. Do you hear any strange noises, clicks?
Try re-installing Windows and see if that helps.

My guess is your video card driver has been altered and is causing the problem. Try rolling back the driver before reinstalling the monitor. Here is a link to the manual for your monitor: http://www.flatmonitors.com/Samsung170N.pdf
From the above manual: "The PowerSaver system operates with a VESA DPMS compliant video card installed in your computer. Use a software utility installed on your computer to set up this feature".
