Most have a plastic retainer (looks like a washer) holding the line up against the outside of the tank. Use a screwdriver to pry it off. Cut the line off and push it through the tank. Use needle nose plyers to remove the filter from the tank. Lubricate the new line with a little alcohol and push it from the outside of the tank to the inside. Grab the inside with needle nose plyers and pull on it. Put a new filter on then pull it back from the outside until it is snug against the tank. Put the retainer back on while pulling on the line to keep it snug against the tank.

How do I blow out the fuel line?

The fuel line runs from the rear of the fuel throttle body down the rear of the engine to the frame, along the frame to the fuel tank. It might have a fuel filter along the way on the frame, If so you can easily disconnect the line from the filter and blow from that point, back to the fuel tank, and forward to the rear of the throttle body. Make sure and disconnect the line from the throttle body so you don't damage the injectors or jam some trash deeper into them. Plus be careful blowing pressure into the tank, the fuel pump is in the tank and might be damaged from the air pressure. Good luck.

Where is fuel pump located on a 1985 chevy cavalier?

The pump is electric, and it is inside the gas tank. You have to drop and remove the tank to change the pump.
The filter is a small metal cylinder, about fist size, and will be in the fuel line under one side or another of the car, unless it is in the engine bay, just before the fuel line reaches the engine. I expect it would however be underneath, along a frame rail. Just follow the fuel line from the tank. Both ends of the filter are threaded. Use 2 wrenches, one as a back-up while you loosen the fuel line fitting. Be careful of damaging the end of the fuel line-that is why you want 2 wrenches.

I need a discription on how to change fuel lines on my poulan pro 42cc chainsaw

This is my descriptions used for change fuel lines. It is the basically the same for most models. Before you begin, make a mental note or take a picture of how the fuel line runs from the tank to thecarburetoricon1.png so you will be able to put the replacement in the same position.
On most chainsawsicon1.png you need to take some wire, make a u-shaped end, which will be used to grab the fuel filter in the fuel tank. Drain the fuel in the tank. Disconnect the fuel line from the carburetor. Generally there are two lines on the carburetor, one for fuel, the other line creates suction used to pump fuel and is connected to the motor, not the fuel tank . Just disconnect the fuel line, it is usually on the side of the carburetor and will leak gas when disconnected. Once this is done, using the wire, gently grab and pull the filter towards the filler opening and using needle nose pliers grab the fuel line above the filter and pull. The problem you may have, is if the fuel line is in bad shape it will break, But once you have the filter off the fuel line, the fuel line can be pulled out from either the inside of the tank or from where it comes out of the tank and goes to the carburetor. Once it is removed you are ready to put the new fuel line in.
It is best to put the fuel filter on the fuel line next. It easier than trying to put it on inside of fuel tank going out. Spray some WD40 or equivalent, on the outside of the gas line, to help the line squeeze through the whole in the back of the tank, which it will have the go through. From the outside of the tank, where the fuel line comes out, fish some wire inside the tank and put the fuel line on the end of it, making sure not to pierce or damage the fuel line. If needed a piece of black tape will hold the wire better and help fit the line through outside hole. Once the fuel line is on the wire, pull it through carefully out the other side of the tank. It is best to use your fingers to pull the line through the outside hole, it makes it less likely the line will get torn or overstretched as line goes through the hole because of the extra rubber used on the line to seal the tank from inside and outside. Once the line is pulled through and seated, run the other end to the carburetor and you are done.

Fuel Filter Replacement Procedure

1. The fuel filter is located on top of the fuel tank near the fuel pump module. Fuel lines are permanently attached to filter assembly and must be replaced with the fuel filter.

2. Release pressure from fuel system by removing the fuel pump relay and start the engine and let it die. Crank the engine a couple times after it dies to relieve more of the fuel pressure

3. Disconnect negative battery cable

4. Raise and support vehicle

5. Support fuel tank with transmission jack or floor jack with large plywood board to evenly distribute the weight of the fuel tank. NOTE: It is important to distribute weight evenly to prevent damage to the fuel pump module.

6. Disconnect ground strap from fuel tank

7. Remove inboard fuel tank straps and front "T" strap fastener

8. Lower the fuel tank approximately 6 inches to access the fuel filter assembly.

9. Disconnect the fuel lines at the fuel supply connector and the fuel pump module

10. Remove the retaining bolt and remove filter assembly from vehicle.

11. Reverse removal procedure to install (Don't forget to put the fuel pump relay back )

Saw runs out of petrel and stops, when plenty of petrol in tank

Try opening the fuel cap for a moment to see if tank venting is the problem. If no change, check the fuel filter for plugging and the fuel line that it is attached to for decay or other damage. The fuel line in the tank should be long and flexible enough to allow the filter to flop around to find the low point no matter the operating position. Hope this helps!

How do i change fuel filter

If there are no fuel filters visible between the tank and the fuel pump, the only fuel filters are in the tank. They are self cleaning and do not need maintenance. If the intake filters on the petcock are damaged they are part of the fuel petcock. The whole petcock will need to be replaced. You can always add an additional filter in line before the fuel pump, but it should not be necessary. To replace the fuel filter you need to drain the tank and replace the fuel petcock.

Need to determine where the fuel filter is located. Also, how to get to and possibly replace the fuel pump.

To remove the fuel pump, you need to either drop the fuel tank or remove the bed. The pump is in the fuel tank. Personally, I remove the bed, it is easier than dropping the tank, and, more often than not, the tank bolts breal off, or you damage the metal lines on the sending unit. Fuel filter? I NEVER change them unless the fuel is contaminated. It is in the engine compartment; down low. Note that if you DO change the filter, be prepared to replace your fuel lines. The filter metal and the line metal are slightly dis-similar, and "galding" is always possible. That being said, if you take the filter off of the line, 99 times out of 100 the threads on the line will stay on the filter. Not good.
