Have you looked in "my computer"? It may show up as a removable drive. If it doesn't, try using a card reader to download your pics.

I have a Power Shot A300 and a new laptop which does not recognize the camera. What must I do? edrayetta@gmail.com

Hello there.

Please click here for information on your camera with Windows Vista: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=OSCompatibilitySupportAct&keycode=vistadr&fcategoryid=221&modelid=8775

If you use Windows XP Home or Professional then click here http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=OSCompatibilitySupportAct&keycode=windr&fcategoryid=221&modelid=8775 and click on the "Home,Professional" link.

This will setup the camera for either version of Windows, for your information Vista doesn't need additional software but Windows XP does.

Hope this helps.

I am using a new laptop. I have uploaded the cannon software from the CD, and now I want to upload new pics from my camera. But the EOS utility will not recognize my camera with this new laptop. What do I...

My guess is that you have a different OS than you had before which means that you probably need a new driver for your camera. Keep in mind that vista and Windows 7 require different drivers than XP. Look for your model of camera and download the latest software and drivers from canon.

I have a HP G60 widescreen laptop. Every so often

Use this tool http://www.technibble.com/xpquickfix-repair-tool-of-the-week/ after you choose the fix cdrom option go to your device manager and delete your cd drive then rescan for changes. Works most of the time. We have used this on several occasions on both XP and Vista.

Canon Rebel XTi not recognized when plugged into usb

Vista is your problem. Solution...buy an inexpensive card reader to download your pics to a folder you create on your desktop. From there, you can send the pics to your photo editing software.

You need to install the correct software on your computer. They are usually called drivers. Here is a link to the Canon Rebel Xt page from Canon with all sorts of goodies you can download. The most important section to get things going for you is the drivers. Select your OS from the drop down list, download and install. If you don't have drivers your PC or Mac doesnt recognize the fine piece of hardware... your camera. Hit me up if you're still stuck.

Vista os loads software but wont reconize camera

There might be compatibility issue. Try running the compatibility wizard in vista. You can start the wizard by typing compatibility wizard in windows Help and Support; it will display a link. Select your powershot software in the list of programs and choose XP in the compatibility mode.

Help

Here's the support site for your camera. Click on the "Downloads and Drivers" tab, select your operating system, and then download the appropriate driver for your system (note some OS don't require a driver.

You can also download the "Zoombrowser" program here, but it's 72 megs, and might take a while.

My XT will not connect to Vista.

Well, that worked perfectly. Turn on your Rebel XT camera and under Menu then Tools go to Communication and set it to Print/PTP. Thank you to all you very smart people!
