Question about Craftsman 42 in. Deck 19.5hp Lawn Tractor
My DLT 3000, purchased in 2006, has never given me any problems, each year I remove the deck, clean it, check and replace bearings as necessary, but this time, when I put it all back together, it ate the belt! So I go buy a new one, it ate it too!!, I removed the deck, checked everything, put on another new belt, mowed for 15 minutes, and started to smell rubber burning, so I stopped just before it spit the belt off. What in the world is going on? Idler pulley bearings are ok, both blade pulleys, bearing and shaft are ok, I did replace a pulley prior to operation this year, maybe it's messed up??
You say you checked everything. I would remove the deck and belt and physically make sure both blades spin freely. Then I'd install the belt and check again, it sounds as though each component works fine alone but when in conjunction with other parts something is binding. Good luck
