When you say 'flash' the mp3 player, do you mean reboot, or reset it? According to the user guide for this RCA H106: "You can reset your player ... if there is a problem by pressing and holding the ON/OFF button for 10 seconds."

If 'flashing' the player mean reseting or rebooting, my player must be bad. I have done this and it still has the same error and my PC will not recognize it.

Thanks. I do understand what you mean. It appears as though my laptop will need to recognize the player is connected but it doesn't. If that is the case, not sure what to do. My laptop will not recognize it is connected.

    Thanks,

    Gary

My PC doesn't recognize the player so it looks like I am screwed on this one. I have an iPod and this one was free (won it in a drawing) so I guess I'll stick with the iPod.

    Thanks,
    Gary

Here's how you fix it for rca H106:

get the user maunal so you know what I'm talking about. I got the FAT error! Plz.. and I could still get the icons. This is how I fixed it. Go to settings and go to advanced press play once only. Plug into computer and it wil recognize it as a flash drive. Completely Format the drive then unplug the player from computer. It will switch back to previous setting automatically. If you need to update driversAfter charging RCA H106A, cuts - 2_bing.gif and firmware use the auto updater from http://www.voxxsupport.com/images/downloads/autoupdater.exe

Hello,

If your mp3 player displays error on screen, it means that the mp3 player is corrupted either by an installed application or data stored in it and has caused it to have memory loss.

To rectify this, you will need to flash the mp3 player. Flashing helps you to restore back any memory loss on the mp3 player.

After flashing it, you will have access to use it again.

NOTE:

After flashing it, and it still the same, you will need to get a new mp3 player.

Have a nice day.

    Hi,

Flashing it, it not the manual reset you can do with your hand, It all about using software application with codes to reset all.

When you are resetting manually, i does not fully reset the mp3 player, But flashing it will reset all that needs to be reset ted.

    Hope you understand.

    Take care.

I could not find a way to fix it, it was basically dead to me. I had the same problem on my h104 one, so I just called up RCA and sent my player to them and then they just sent me the h106.
