SOURCE: John deere 68 riding mower steering column won't

Just had same problem with my craftsmen. There is a very inadequate little nylon bushing supposed to keep that shaft stable. When worn out it allows that shaft to move and puts the gears in a bind. It is located on the end closest to arced gear where shaft hooks to drag link. Its a pain.

SOURCE: my lr120 husqvarna ride on

This is belt drag, the gearbox is a crash box ( no syncro ) if there is any movment on the gearbox pulley you will not be able to change gear, check the belt keepers, they should be close to the pulleys to help stop belt sag, make sure the belt is not sagging and pulling onto the back of the pulley,or on the engine pulley when you de clutch, if all else fails replace the belt.

Tightening steering wheel on husqvarna tractor 42in 15 horsepower no. yth1542

Interesting! The steering gear can commonly become loose at a several points. I would check the steering wheel itself, prise off the central plastic cover and make sure the nut underneath is tight. Check the gear at the bottom of the steering wheel shaft, if this gets loose it can jump the gear teeth. Sometimes this is so bad the steering wheel will turn without moving the wheels. Tighten everything and replace any worn parts.

Need to start1986elcamino no key

remove horn cover, screws from backside of steering wheel, unplug wire to cover for the horn. loosen and remove 7/8" or 22mm nut from center. using steering wheel puller remove steering wheel. using steering wheel lock spring compressor tool compress spring and remove external snap ring. or have friend press down on cogged black plastic ring and remove snapring from shaft. dont allow spring to make things fly. now remove the three phillips headed screws and the fourth that hold turn signal lever, to the turn signal assesembly and wiggling wires from bottom end of steering column and pulling up on turn signal plastic assesembly pull until out of way. using a t20 i believe torx, six point star bit, to remove the tumbler assesembly. now reachin with a neetle nose pliers and turn. all done. and the install new tumbler. hope your not stealing it. or you can just remove plastic pannel under steering column and the two 14mm nuts holding steering column up. let it rest upon seat. remove the ingition switch with a 7 mm socket. where the rod use to connect on the bottom side of ignition switch, slide slider away to start. but this will not disengage the steering wheel lock, depending if its in the lock position or not would depend on which way i would go. if not in locked position use 2nd option just to move it. but either way to replace ignition lock cylinder, where key goes, use first method

4wheel steering alignment

Husqvarna only sold one four wheel steer machine LT1000-14 which was later called a LT4140, there is a shaft that runs vertically through the back of the gearbox, if the steering goes over centre this shaft will bend and the machine will snake in a straight line. you need to replace or strighten this shaft.

Husqvarna Rider 155 No steering Rear end of cable looks okay

The steering is fairly basic, a steering wheel that turns a steering shaft, on the end of the shaft is a sprocket, around the sprocket runs a short chain, on either end of the chain is a steel cable, both cables run to a quadrate at the underside of the engine, the r/h cable then goes the the l/h fixing and the l/h to the right, so either the locking screw on the steering wheel shaft has come loose and not turning the lower shaft, or the sprocket has sheered from the lower shaft, or the cables are not adjusted correctly, remove the cover on top of the chassis between you feet, you will then see the lower shaft, sprocket and chain, you should see the problem when the steering is turned.

Steering wheel stiff when turning right or left on a 2002 camray le. There is sufficient fluid for the pwr steering. I assume it's something else.

definitely check ur belt condition and tightness..very important.. also wiggle or pry on pwr steering pump pulley to make sure ur shaft hasnt broken .not hard but few wiggles w long prybar should do it. very possible u have a bad pwr steering pump. no pressure in system, or very old burnt out unflushed fluid, dirty fluid.not common.

The cog at the end of the steering arm is worn and will not turn. Does this cog come off and can I replace with a new one

Without model no. information it's hard to say. There are some manufacturers who have the pinion gear as a separate item while others have the pinion welded to the steering shaft. A quick way to tell is by looking at the end of the shaft where the pinion is, if there is a retaining screw, then the pinion is separate, if there is not a retaining screw then it is welded. You may also want to check the sector or fan gear that meshes with the pinion as this can sometimes become damaged.

The steering on my Husquavana 150 mower is slack and uneven, it turns sharp to left but not to right. Gear wheel at end of steering shaft is worn. How do I repair it with more sustainable solution. Thank...

replace steering gear and lower nyliner bushings on steering shaft. Also check sector gear for wear and replace if needed. When replacing gear place front wheels straight forward and center steering wheel-the unit should steer the same both ways then.

Concerning Husqvarna LR120 lawn tractor. Gears will not engae.

Recheck your installation. It sounds like you perhaps got the belt on the wrong side of one or more belt guides. If you need an owners manual, post your full model and serial number and I will see if I can locate one for you
