Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. You’ll need to check the X and Y sustain buffer boards. When either of these boards goes bad common problems include negative image, no image, vertical or horizontal stripes on picture, turns on and than turns off, and many more. You’ll need to open the back off the TV and check for any swollen/bulged capacitors on these boards and replace whichever has gone bad. If still the issue is not resolved, then please check the power supply board. All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise & know how to solder/re-solder components as these units contain high voltages even when switched off. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

You have bad sustain boards on your tv. Most panasonic tvs have two sustain board X-sus (also performs z-sus functions) and Y-sus. These boards have to be physically tested using a multimeter that can measure capacitance. In rear cases this is also caused by a faulty panel. Tap on the screen(Gently and see if the stuck pixels in the tapped area are released and let me know.

Good that you have posted the image. From the looks of it , its a bit more advanced problem which points to the buffer boards. Do you know how to use a multimeter?

Cool. Do you have one that can measure capacitance? If you do then discharge the caps on the buffer board and test them one by one and see if any of them reads "OL". If you need additional help with locating the buffer then let me know.

Hi.

If the picture is more or less like this:

I have a 50

Then you have to replace the low Data drive (Cboard on Pana service manual). The main controller board and lower data out must be tested before replacing buffer.

Here the boards layout. The problem is usually one of the boards named C1, C2 , and C3:

If you replaced c2 you need to test sc and d board. Also test again the newly replaced C2. driver chip is very sensitive and can be damaged when the board is touched.

After negative rating the question will be passed to a different expert.

    Goodbye and good luck.

I have checked your picture. That is a faulty C board.

I am out of this problem, the system will re-locate you to a different expert.

    Bye.

Screen has a long black line down the center.

I also have the TH42PZ80U and I just had the certified Panasonic repair person out. The problem is this is the THIRD time in two years. Any quesses on what's wrong? It's a bad panel, again. That's right, three bad panels in the two years I've own this tv. I am now one month out of the panel warranty and guess how much the bid is to replace the panel. $1542! I only paid $1300 for it. Panasonic better make this right. I think a whole new tv is in order just for my trouble. After reading about so many of us having this problem, we are probably getting close to a class action law suit.

Samsung 50 in. HPS5033X/XAA colored lines running vertically and won't go away.

How wide are the lines. Do they change width? Where on the screen are they located?Connections on the c boards at the bottom to the panel flex cables or bad c board itself can cause 2 inch wide verticle bar. Before touching these connectors be sure power supply is disconnected from the 2 sustain boards on the sides. If you don't there will be an arc that will destroy the flex cable thus you will have to replace the panel. If C boards or connections don't fix it the replace the plasma panel. If the lines are thin lines then panel is likely bad. Contact Panasonic even if out of warr they may help.
