Lemark Z1420 why bother?

I cannot get my printer to do a test page. The wi fi light does not come on. The on/off button flashes. I have followed the instructions from the cd which came with the printer all to no avail. The printer will not do anything either on line or off. Please help!

    Hi

Thanks for trying, I followed your link and re installed the latest drivers after first removing the "old" software - it's only 3 days old.

The on/off button still flashes, the wifi light doesn't come on and I still cannot get the printer to print a test page . . . even using the usb cable.

After re starting my lap top a messaged came up - the toolbox cannot find cjb1400en.ex

Any further ideas will be gratefully appreciated.

    Regards

    Mogwi

The wireless feature of the LEXMARK Z1420 would be great if it worked. I'm convinced that it's nothing more than a pretty, little, shiny ornament on the printer front panel....A joke, mainly. I returned my first printer because the WiFi indicator would not illuminate and this second printer has the same problem. I tried the INA Reset procedure many, many, times. The LEXMARK system of replacing the print nozzles when the cartridge is replaced yields continued high quality printing throughout the life of the printer, but the wireless feature certainly leaves a lot to be desired! I'll just keep it and let the wife use it with the USB. No more wireless printers, though! Lexmark should stick to manufacturing printers and stay away from wireless.

My Z1420 also flashed the power light (three times then a gap then repeat). it would work it I removed one of the cartridges (color in my case) and replacing the cartridge (lexmark sent me a replacement after I reported the original problem on first install) stopped the flashing.

Please try to reset your printer's wireless network settings. Refer to this article on How to Reset the Z1400 and Z1500 Series Network Settings. Once you reset the printer's network settings, the Wi-Fi light will momentarily turn off then on with orange light.
You can then run the Lexmark Wireless Setup Utility application on your computer to reconfigure the printer to reconnect to your wireless network.

My lexmark z1420 has been in the loft for some time, I have switched it n anf the wi-fi light keeps flashing orange no green?

Try to print the wireless settings page to determine if your printer is still on the same wireless network as your router and computer. To print the page, follow the steps in these article on How to Print the Network Settings Page on the Z1400 & Z1500 Series Inkjet Printer; a brief explanation of its values. On the page, check the Status, SSID and also the IP address and see if it's connected to your network. Otherwise, you may need to reset your Lexmark Z1420's wireless network adapter and reconfigure it. To reset, follow the steps in this article on How to Reset the Z1400 and Z1500 Series Network Settings. Launch the Lexmark wireless setup utility to reconfigure the printer to your wireless network.
Hope this helps.

I set up my own wireless network and now my printer will not communicate with my laptop.WIFI light flashes red. Have tried everything to reconnect. Lexmark Z2420.

I suggest you reset the Lexmark Z2420 wireless network adapter. To reset, do the following: With the printer on, press and release the power button. The printer will enter power save mode. Now, press and hold the paper feed button. While holding down the paper feed button, press and release the power button. Continue holding the paper feed button for 30 seconds. Release the paper feed button. This will reset the internal network adapter (INA). When the printer has been reset, a solid orange Wi-Fi indicator light should appear. If Wi-Fi light goes back to flashing red, you have not successfully reset the printer. Start the procedure again. Once you have a solid orange Wi-Fi light, reconfigure the printer for wireless connection. Thanks.

Wi fi not responding

Check on the printer that WiFi is not "disabled".

Check the "log-files" within the "staus" page on the web-server running inside your wireless-router, to see if the printer is trying to connect.

Lexmark z1420 wireless issue

I found out after alot of searching to perform a hard reset, put the printer into standby mode ie, flashing power button, hold it for two seconds and then release

the open the printer cover
then press and hold the power button for at least 30 seconds, try 40 if in doubt (yes your finger does become numb at this point)

Let go and wait 40 seconds, and it should then boot back to factory defaults so you can start again

If you do get it working wireless from a mac in infrastructure mode I would like to hear, because I have yet to manage this, connected and routed via a bt voyager 2110 wifi router.
