There are a couple of different connection types. Quick connect. normal screw type and wide screw. Adapters are available at most hardware stores. Unfortunately using adapters creates another location for a gas leak. It seems the lpg tank suppliers have a deal with grill manufacturers to change fitting types and force the end-user to repurchase equipment.

How to convert a whirlpool dryer from natural gas to propane gas

Dryer should have come with a bag of orifices with instructions. If not, ask dealer. Switch out orifice (threaded brass fitting with a small hole) in the dryer's gas valve and and adjust regulator (threaded screw or knob) on the valve according to instructions.

Are the propane tanks fitted with a pressure regulator?

The propane gas regulator is one of the most important parts of a propane gas system (or a compressed natural gas system as well).

The purpose of the regulator is to control the flow of gas and lower the pressure from the tank to the appliance(s) in the gas system.

The regulator not only acts as a control regarding the flow and distribution of propane (or CNS) but also as a safety barrier between the high pressure of the tank and the end use appliance(s).

Without it, you can cause serious damage to the appliance's gas valve and create a disaster- fire or explosion.

How do you get into the dryer to change the natural gas connector to a propane connection?

Not sure what country you are in, so I am unsure that the same conditions apply.

The gasline from the meter must be interrupted. Propane bottles connection pipe can then be brazed to the copper line . By law a propane regulator must be fitted between the bottle and the gqas line going to the dryer.

This must be fitted by a licensed gas fitter ( plumber) so if any problems occur your insurance will pay out on fire or other faults.

Placing the propane bottle line directly to the dryer without a regulator and inside a building is dangerous and unlawful, as most dryers are not vented correctly to deal with propane.

My grill would not preheat to proper temperature for several uses. Then it would not light, there was no gas smell from the burners.

Sounds like your propane bottle is empty...or maybe you have a bad regulator. Disconnect your propane bottle and pick it up; if it is very light, you need to get the bottle filled (or exchange it for a full one, depending on the type of bottle you have). If the bottle has plenty of gas, change out your regulator.

If it was me I would return it. You did the right thing by testing it on another grill. You should not have to accept a new grill that is not working properly.

My propane camping stove is burning with alot of soot.there seems to be an oily discharge in the line when i disconnect.the line runs directly to a 20 lb bottle bypassing the regulator as it is a high...

soot is incorrect gas / air mixture--too much gas
I am thinking that it is designed to run with screw on bottles ( low pressure ) yet you have connected it direct to a 20 lb bottle with out a regulator and have got adaptors to enable that
Not only do the regulators act as blow back extinguishers ( preventing a cannister explosion ) they control the gas pressure to obtain the correct air /gas mixture
try attaching a regulator to the top of the bottle , them a hose to the camping stove and your problems will be solved
