I would like to add a outlet to an existing outlet

I would like to add a plug to an existing outlet with two light switches. I could I email a photo of the outlet with the wires and switches stretched out for better viewing. This may make the question easier to solve.

You will need to wire the outlet, and then run a jumper from the white to the white on switch 1 and 2.
you will need to wire the end switch and middle swtiches normally with the ground and black wires.
the white wire jumpers will run from outlet (GFI if in a bathroom), to middle switch hot, to end switch hot.

How to wire in an on-off switch for ceiling light from power source going to living room.

Pretty easy if you can get the wires from the existing wall outlet. Just run a wire from existing outlet to the where you want the new light. Install inside an approved ceiling electrical outlet box and then run another wire to where you want the switch or switches. If you go to home depot or the library you can look at the books with diagrams on how to wire it. You can skip the wall switch if you use a light with a pull chain.

Add 12 volt outlet switched by ignition

Look in your owners manual for the accessory fuse. That line turns off. Also, consider a 12 volt relay between the seat and your power source. A small toggle switch will work well for a relay.

I want to use a TM8111 swithch to control 3 devices. A ceiling fan/light combo, night light and a vanity light. How do I hook it up?

Following image has basic wiring plan.
http://waterheatertimer.org/images/TM8111-switch-wiring-500.jpg

Each Load (light-or-fan) has to have separate wire running to switch box.
If night light is plugged into wall outlet, then a new wire will have to be added going to switch box.
Most night lights have built in photo eye, and on-off switch.

Question is posted under switch, but asks about outlet.
Outlet is where you plug extension cord for example.

Usually screws are color-coded.
Outlets have brass and silver screws.
Without testing wires, trying hooking wires to same color screw they came from.
If breaker blows, then take off one wire and try again, or test wires to see what each is connected to.
As general rule with newer wiring inside outlet box, code says Black wires are Hot and go to brass screws, White wires are neutral and go to silver screws.
Older wiring could be very different especially if wiring was not done by code.
Use cheap circuit analyzer from home center to help diagnose outlet problems.

Add a comment with photo of your old wiring device, plus wiring.

I have a cooper switch in my RV. It controls the electric side of my hot water heater. There is a little red lite on the switch that comes on when the switch is on. The red lite has gone off however I...

Yes the indicator light can go bad.

Google search: 'cooper switch with indicator light' -or- 'cooper pilot light switch'
Double check amp rating on existing switch to make sure you have correct amperage.

When replacing switch, look at screw colors and location of wires.
Compare screw colors on new switch.
Screws are color-coded and wires attach to same color screw.
Take photo of wiring or draw picture of wiring before taking out old switch.

Diagramed instructions of how to use an existing 110 outlet and make another outlet/lightswitch

The link above shows basic wiring plan for adding a switch
The switch always turns the Hot wire on-and-off.
When selecting wire size, use same size that connects to plug
So if plug has a yellow-sheathed cable, then use #12 wire
If plug has white sheathed cable, use #14 wire
#14 is smaller wire than #12

I want to use an X-10 Pro appliance module outside, in an outlet that has a Leviton outdoor covered electrical outlet cover. The appliance module does not fit even with the cover completely open. Is it...

Instead of trying to put your appliance module outside, and risk it getting wet, why not add another outlet inside the house, near the existing outdoor outlet, or anywhere along the path of the existing wire that feeds that outlet. Re-route the wires that were going to the outdoor outlet to this new outlet instead. Then plug the appliance module into the new outlet, and plug into that a new wire leading to the existing outdoor outlet. If you are really lucky, there will be enough slack wire so that you can cut the wire going to the outlet and insert the new outlet in-between. In any case, you will need to put a plug on the wire feeding the outdoor outlet. Work safe, don't forget to turn off the breaker first! Good luck.

Ok - you have to figure out which two wires are supplying the power. Then which wires go to the outlet. Then the last wires should go to the light. Connect all the white wires together. then the black from the power cable goes to the black of the outlet. Add a short wire to the black group and put it to one side of the switch. put the black wire from the light cable to the other side of the switch.
