Question about Canon PowerShot S1 IS Digital Camera
Camers had not been used for a while, put batteries in, lines appeared in viewfinder,unable to obtain image, problem cleared up for 10-15 photos then returned.The view through the viewfinder and the display is a combination of lines and black shadow, to my knowledge my camera has not taken a knock or been dropped.
Can you offer any advice
This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info. I think you'll be very pleased:
